  1. I see where an NBC news anchor has had to apologize for her comments regarding Phil Robertson and the whole Duck Dynasty thing.
Any of you planning to eat at Chik Fil A on January 21 in support of Phil. There is a Facebook group promoting it as a way to show that the Christians in this nation are large in numbers and have been offended one time too often.

Twitter also blocked fans from supporting Phil, but I will stop my linkings. If you are interested you can google it for yourself.

My personal thoughts are that I am in support of people with conservative views being able to express them without “retaliation” for lack of a better word. There is also an interesting article floating around out there that A&E’s visiion for the show was to make fun of this back woods Lousiana family and instead of people laughing AT them they started identifying and laughing WITH them. The conspiracy theorists have suggested that A&E set this whole thing up to rein in the Robertsons. I don’t know if that is true or not. I have no insider information. What I DO know is that Southern White Christians are the last group in America that it is OK to openly mock and say ugly things about.
I of course am your Resident Southern White Trash or Southern Belle depending on the day. I have always told you that race relations in the South are complicated. There is an inter-depence between white people and black people in the South that no one from the outside can understand. I myself have some stereotypes that I assign to black people. If I were to be seriously ill I would want a black woman to take care of me. There is a compassion I have observed in black women that I don’t see in white women. If I were in a dangerous situation I would gravitate to an older black man to protect me before any other man there.
I can’t really explain my feelings on this well. As before, I will rely on Cheryl to come through, read my comments, and tell you all what I am really trying to say.

  3. Kim, I saw where FB also had blocked — not for long, but for something like 36 hours — a page supporting Robertson that Huckabee had created shortly after the controversy broke.

Interesting that social media administrators seemingly take sides, apparently, in deciding exactly what political speech is allowed and what isn’t.

  4. Maybe this is why Chas didn’t receive his books on time….

    “The Grinch has company.

Thousands of Americans awoke to find that special something missing from beneath the Christmas tree Wednesday, a day after UPS acknowledged getting swamped by the seasonal cheer and failing to deliver orders in time.

Now, rival FedEx appears to share the blame for the holiday that wasn’t.

“We’re sorry that there could be delays and we’re contacting affected customers who have shipments available for pickup,” Scott Fiedler, a spokesman for FedEx, told the Associated Press Wednesday.”

  5. I sent a package via Fed Ex to NY that I’m guessing may not have gotten there in time (I sent it only 4 days before Christmas so a big part of it is my own fault — but reading about the problems on the delivery end, I’m thinking it’ll most likely arrive late).

  6. We had breakfast at Cracker Barrel and lunch at Chick-fil-a. It took us five hours today to make a 3.5 hour trip. Traffic was heavy, but very few trucks. So no probleem.

  7. I sent a package out on December 19th via UPS. I was told the recipient wouldn’t get it until December 30th. I figured it was because I was sending it to the middle of nowhere. It is a nice little spot in the middle of no where and the people are quite lovely.
