6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
I’m thankful because 42 years ago at Christmas, the Lord invaded my soul. I heard Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel for the first time, learned about singing hymns in four-part harmony, saw “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and heard “The Messiah.”
It was a Christmas of newness and eyes and soul awakened to the Creator of the Universe. I try to remember THAT magic during Christmas: Christ in the flesh.
Thanks be to God for that babe in the manger, the sacrifice for all mankind, who sits at God’s right hand in glory–right where he belongs.
I would appreciate prayers for Joe and his girl friend, Linda. Linda is a sister of the young woman whose husband died in his early forties suddenly. Joe had a bad ski accident, when he was out skiing with the son of the friend of ours. This young man was in an accident a week or so ago. His truck rolled as he swerved to avoid a deer. The truck was totaled, but he was ok. After the ski accident,Joe was unconscious and life-flighted out. Still on life support. This was more trauma for the young man and all their family. (They have had trauma on top of trauma.) Linda has just recently started attending our church after a painful divorce. Prayers for all of them would surely be appreciated.
I’m still learning things about her.
We got into the car at the rest area. She said,
“The restroom was clean, but there wasn’t anyone in there”
Huh???
“Usually, when we travel on a holiday, I give the attendants a $5.00 tip because they have to work on a holiday.”
That had never crossed my mind. I have never tipped a restroom attendant.
I have seen them in fancy hotels, where they expect a tip. But none of them ever did anything for me.
