Time again for the weekly football poll. There are several big games this week, including two Florida teams going head to head. Plus, how about a pillow fight featuring two ACC teams from North Carolina that have only one conference victory between them? And two military academies trying to improve on otherwise dismal seasons. Then there is a real battle in the state of Battle Creek. Too bad I’ll be away from a TV and won’t get to watch any of the games. Get your choices in by Friday at 9:00PM EDT when So Cal and Oregon go at it. I’ll forego any comments this week due to a tired brain and time constraints.
1. USC @ Oregon State
2. Army @ Air Force
3. Navy @ #25 Notre Dame
4. Mississippi State @ #14 South Carolina
5. #21 Michigan @ #22 Michigan State
6. Tennessee @ #9 Missouri
7. #7 Miami (FL) @ #3 Florida State
8. Boise State @ Colorado State
9. Pillow Fight: North Carolina (1-3 ACC) @ North Carolina State (0-4 ACC)
10. Tie breaker (pick the winner and the score): Arizona @ California
This is an away game for Navy and the odds are in favor for the Irish. Navy is a running team offensively. I am going to root for the Navy and say they pull it off in OT by 2.

drivesguy- Feel free to guess on the rest of the games as well.
My picks:
Oregon State – I can’t really say I like either team, but USC has been having problems the last few years.
Army – Can’t say why. Except that Air Force and football don’t seem to belong together.
ND – Reality, not choice.
SC – They are a good team. After all, they pulled out a win in the other Columbia.
MSU – Spartans at home. ‘Nuf said.
Mizzou – I hope they don’t fold again like last week.
FSU – Another of those “I really don’t care” games.
BSU – As Mumsee says- “Go Boise!”
NC – No reason. I do wonder, though, what exactly is a Tar Heel?
AZ 30-21 – For once Arizona has a decent chance to beat California in Berkeley, especially since this is a off year for the Bears.

Chas’ Wild Guesses:
Oregon State over USC. I don’t know much about this, no horse in the race.
Air Force will bomb Army
Notre Dame. Sorry for Navy here.
The Gamecocks, of course. I hope they don’t go in thinking they will roll over Miss.St. it could mean trouble.
Missoure. My brain says so. I would like to see Gators beat the Tigers
Florida State. I don’t much like this, but that’s the way I see it.
Go Boise
I think the Tarheels will beat the pack.
Arizona 231, Cal 14. My guess is as wild as it gets.

I forgot Michigan/Michigan State. I got bumfuzzled and overlooked this.
And I will Pick Michigan without any logical reason for doing so.
And, it’s the Vols against Missouri. I still pick Missouri.

Thank you for the info on “tar heels”, anonymous. And just who are you?
IBNO- Let the child pick away! Kbells’ hubby took a turn, why not the younger generation? Also, Sometimes I like to feature conferences other than the SEC, so that one got left out.
Chas- Though I like the fact that Arizona will win, I don’t think any team is capable of 231 points in one game in modern times. Sure, some Georgia college got 210 points way back in the early 20th century, and probably would have gotten to 231 if they had played the 4th quarter (both coaches decided to end the game early). But the way the game is played now, I doubt anyone will get that many points.

You can tell Chas was in a hurry today. Make that 21/14.
I didn’t edit my post as I usually do. I make many typing errors, most of which you don’t see. Which is a good thing. For some reason, the letter “j” gets in lots of my words.

And I was the Anon who posted the question about the dueling Anons, but I was not the Anon who posted above. It must be Michelle unless Drill has made an appearance.

Oh, I see on the other thread that Anon above is Ricky Weaver. So Michele still needs to post here.

Janice, Please! AR is the abbreviation for Arkansas. Arizona is AZ. And this from someone from Colorado. Oh, I see why you did it. 😉

Those of you who picked USC are already ahead. That’s OK. I’m really for a USC any time.
😉
I just don’t care much for Trojans. USC once played a series with USC when USC was independent. USC beat USC in Columbia, but lost two in LA.

It’s SC 34/16. Mississippi State is better than that. They made five turnovers that the Gamecocks cashed. This is 15 straight wins at Williams-Brice.

What a weekend! Florida State blows the Hurricanes away; Michigan State sends Wolverines packing. Navy almost beat Notre Dame and Air Force bombed the Army. Well how about that?
Anyway, RickyWeaver and I both got 9 correct this week to tie. His tie breaker guess was off by 23 and mine by ten, so I win. But I cannot give myself a high five (it’s rather awkward) so I’ll let someone else do it.
Final results for the others: Chas 8; kbells & Tychicus 7; AJ 5; inbutnotof and his son each got 6; and JaniceGJaniceG 2.
Keep it up. Their are still four or five weeks left. Maybe Mumsee will join in. So far, she has the best percentage at 100%, but she has only chimed in twice for one game each time. Go figure.

Missed it by that much as Maxwell Smart would say.
I didn’t begin to relax in the Miss. St. game until late in the 4th quarter. They are much better than the score indicates.
You just can’t assume you can beat any SEC team.
