It’s late. It’s cold. I have a cold. So this will be short. Not as short as Georgia’s winning streaks have been, though. This week we go to the Big 12 for an exciting possibility at both extremes. #10 Texas Tech crosses the Red River to play #15 Oklahoma. Could be an upset there. And for the Pillow Fight, I chose West Virginia at Kansas State. Neither has had much success in the conference so far. Oh, and pick early since the Boise State game is on Friday night. Again.
1. Boise State @ Brigham Young (Friday night) – BSU or BYU, that is the question. (Sorry Shakespeare fans.)
2. Tennessee @ #1 Alabama – Can Tennessee pull another big upset?
3. Pittsburgh @ Navy – Say it with me now: “Go Navy…”
4. #21 South Carolina @ #5 Missouri – So, do Chas and I make a friendly wager? Nah, I don’t gamble.
5. Texas @ TCU – By request. Longhorns and Horned Frogs. What is it with Texas and it’s horns?
6. #10 Texas Tech @ #15 Oklahoma – Red River Rivalry, Junior. Except this year it actually matters in the Big 12 race.
7. #9 Clemson @ Maryland – Clemson was embarrassed last week. Can the Terps make it twice?
8. #12 UCLA @ #3 Oregon – Another request. And a PAC-12 mini-championship.
9. Pillow Fight: West Virginia @ Kansas State – WVU 1-2, 3-4. KSU 0-3, 2-4. Perhaps a pillow would be a good idea watching this one so you can sleep comfortably.
10. Tie breaker Arizona @ Colorado– Pick the winner and the score. Colorado can be tough in Boulder. Will the Wildcats beat the Buffalo there?
Navy will be hard pressed to take on Pittsburgh. Navy lost by 2 points last week. The Advantage to Navy is this is their homecoming game. I will pick Navy by 2 points. Go Navy: Beat Army!
1. Go Boise
2 ‘Bama. Tennessee was just lucky and benefited from some bad calls.
3. Navy over Pitt.
4. South Carolina. Connor Shaw is out. But the Gamecocks can beat them Tigers.
5. TCU over Texas. The Frogs are doing well this year and they are in Ft. Worth.
6. Oklahoma. It’s never wise to bet against the Cowboys. Though I’m not familiar here.
7. Clemson over Maryland. Tigers will not be embarrassed again.
8. Oregon over UCLA. Ducks have a thing going.
9. Kansas State over Mountaineers. Don’t know why.
10. Arizona 21, Colorado 7.
My picks:
Boise – mainly because when BYU and Arizona were in the WAC together, it was a big rivalry. And I can’t root for a former rival.
Alabama – as Chas said.
Navy – Go Navy!
Mizzou – It’s homecoming, they are leading the SEC East (why they are in the East, I don’t know) and have a chance at the Championship. Go Tigers! (And this is one time I have to disagree with Chas.)
TCU – Either is a “hold-my-nose” choice.
Oklahoma – home field advantage plays a big role in close games in the Big 12.
Clemson – As Chas said (and when he chooses a Tiger, it means something).
Oregon – They have been almost unstoppable in recent years. Anyone else remember when they were a push-over?
West Virginia – Though home field has it’s advantages, the Panthers (another cat that Chas chose) have a hard time beating other teams this year.
Arizona 24-20, though I am only hoping Arizona can win this one, since Colorado is always hard to beat at home. I remember when Nebraska was ranked 2 or 3 and lost at Boulder 62 to 20 something. That year, Colorado won the Big 12 North because of that game.
The Horns and the Frogs will play at Amon Carter Stadium on the TCU campus. It only holds about 45,000. Jerry Jones’ DeathStar is also in our county. We are taking our fellow Sunday School teachers to see Texas Tech and Baylor play there next month. I am not sure either of those teams will still be undefeated at that time. Baylor is building a new stadium on the north side of its campus right next to the Brazos River. I think it will be about the size of Amon Carter Stadium.
I’m watching the Gamecock – Tigers game on Chuck’s big screen.
Not worth it. Football is a stupid game. If I were smart, I would turn it off.
SC could win if they wouldn’t fumble every time they get inside the 10 yard line.
So, one game is still going on- Texas-TCU. Chas has 8 correct so far, Tychicus has 7. If Texas wins, then they Chas and Tychicus will tie. Tychicus wins the contest because his tie breaker was closer. The final in that game was Arizona 44-20. Chas was 36 off the score, Tychicus only 10. I’m not staying up any later to await the end of that game (it is currently in the 2nd quarter with a lightning delay). So guys, check the score Sunday and decide who wins.

Joe,
Yes, sadly Navy will beat Army this year. Pitt on the other hand will be a lot harder because they actually throw the ball.

45,000 is about the capacity of Carolina Stadium when I was there.
I don’t know who Williams-Brice was, but their stadium holds about twice that.

It was just KBells and me who picked the Gamecocks.
It was a tough game.
It’s hard to stop the tiger offense.

I couldn’t decide between TT and OU – as Peter suggested, I should have gone with the home team.
