🙂 Homecoming week madness is over! (And the football team won! They were 4th in the state in the small schools level all season, and beat the #10 team, so our athletic director thinks they’ll move up a notch our two.)
🙂 D1 and family coming over. All they want is to get D3’s old cellphone, since they are switching over to the same company we have, and their Sprint phones won’t work anymore. D3’s phone still has lots of life left in it, but you know how teens are- if it’s more than 6 months old, it’s out-dated. But I don’t mind, and neither does Mrs L. Anytime the grandchildren are around is fine with us.
🙂 Blue ribbon at the fair (for work similar to the card I’m using as my gravatar)
🙂 Some great walks this week, and fun at the fair
🙂 Being back in our own bed after being gone about two-thirds of the first three weeks of September
😦 The process of making these anniversary books is very, very frustrating since the software forces many formatting errors; correct one and you get three more. Correct ten pages and the program crashes and you have to redo three pages.
🙂 Apple picking this afternoon–I’ve never done it before, and should be able to meet some of the neighbors for the first time.
😦 Hubby took D2 to the bus in the middle of the night for a weekend trip, which resulted in two episodes of barking by the dog left behind–when they left and when he came home. That and her restlessness during the night (toes clicking on wood as she paced) limited my sleep quite a bit.
😦 A 20% off coupon good through Monday from the company through which I’m making the anniversary books. If the process had gone smoothly, they’d be ready by then. As it is, there is no possible way they can be, nor any possible way to know I’m going to get even halfway decent books.
Fair is going well this year, as always. Let’s see: one blue and one red in the swine, two blues and one red in the steer, two blues and a red in the wire art dept, and one red in the collection dept. one blue and one red in the rabbit dept, and a bunch of others for other stuff. One boy and his steer made it to the final four for grand champion but the steer was getting antsy. The judge told the boy his showmanship would have put him over the top, but the steer did not cooperate. One pig was kicked out for fighting.
🙂 A busy weekend ahead with a visit to my disabled friend this afternoon, a casserole to make for church and an author’s event tomorrow after church at a local library (I was invited by my former journalism teacher).
😦 I think the Santa Anas are kicking up, it was very windy last night and dry today. L.A. & the coast are protected from the desert by all the mountain ranges surrounding us, so most of our wind/breeze and weather come in off the ocean. But around this time of year, Southern California’s so-called ‘devil’ winds kick up out of the desert, propelling a furnace-blast of dry, hot air through the mountain passes from the east. This is also our fire season — with everything so dry, just one spark can set the mountains aflame with the wind to spread it.
😦 The state of our nation with everyone at each other’s throats. What a full-blown mess.
😦 More seriously, the threat and violence being done to Christians and churches in the Middle East.
😦 I got a jury summons, first time in a few years. Oct. 28.
Daughters put up a notice at the fair today, offering goats and sheep and we had an immediate response. Met some nice folk, looking forward to working with them over the coming years.
😦 Everything was blurry when I first put them on. I had to wait to start wearing them when I woke up this morning. In some ways they are better, but in some not so good. I think they will work out, however. Used to be so much easier. Too bad we never really appreciate things when they are better. 😉
🙂 Feel like I am finally getting caught up after being gone a couple of weeks.
🙂 Fresh garden tomatoes and other produce from our little gardens.
🙂 Beautiful fall leaves.
😉 Daughter has health insurance starting for at least a semester. Hopefully, her husband will continue to work after that.
🙂 Oh boy, items! 🙂 michelle, it’s the PV library — my friend wrote a book all about her journalism career which was self-published but rather a hit, they’re even making a feature-length movie about it — or at least they’ve been working with her on the script.
🙂 Got my zucchini casserole for church finished this morning (sliced and diced everything last night to keep in the refrigerator). Somehow there was a lot of extra mix this time, so I was able to put that into a small casserole dish of my own — had one serving for lunch & I still have two servings left in the refrigerator. 🙂
🙂 Had a nice afternoon out with my disabled friend — she wanted to go to a candy wholesale warehouse (she’s got a sweet tooth) and then we got some yogurt at Yogurtland (my first experience there) and went over to spend an hour browsing in the Calvary Chapel bookstore.
🙂 Kathleen, I recently got new glasses, too. Wonderful, I can now read road signs and everything.
🙂 Good about those road signs. My far vision was far worse than I realized. Too bad we can’t try out sizes of lenses and frames. I would make some changes, but think these will be better in some ways. Esp. for seeing those road signs!

My cell phone is about ten years old. I just put a new battery in it. Everyone wants me to upgrade, but it does everything I want from a phone.

I love it. A pig thrown out for fighting.
Angry birds, anyone?

Fighting pigs! Yikes. Sounds like a grunty event.

Hey, author event at YOUR local library? I’m an author. I used to hang out at that library all the time!
Still going through boxes . . . I thought I’d finally gotten to the end when my son called and said, “what about all these boxes under the house.”
Sigh.
Fortunately, I took the small car–though it came home crammed. 😦
But, I’ve got an envelope with items to mail to Donna, now . . . 🙂

😦 Feel as though I’m coming down with a cold again
😦 Lost an awesome co-worker this week.
🙂 We may have already found a new one – and she attends my church! Please pray we hire someone who will bring a Godly influence to my workplace.
🙂 Found a great recipe for zucchini rounds – even my hubby likes them!
