Prayer Requests 9-7-13

Who has a request or praise to share?

Psalm 27

¹ The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell.

Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident.

One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.

For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”

Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.

11 Teach me Your way, O Lord, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.

12 Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence.

13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

  1. Heavenly Father,

It has been another day full of Your goodness that many in the world do not comprehend. Thank You for calling us as Your adopted children and making us aware of the blessings You have given, especially forgiveness of sins and life eternal. I pray for all my brothers and sisters in Christ here on the blog that they are feeling Your hand of blessing upon them and their loved ones this evening. If there is strife in any of the homes or conflicts unresolved between spouses or parents and children, I pray for quick resolution within the boundaries of Your will.

Lord, I offer up a special request for Aji suun this evening. Help her at this time of need for intervention in the physical realm of her life. You are infinitely knolegible, fully aware of the details, even on the cellular level of Aji suun’s diseased body. Please, Lord, be the sure relief for her this evening. I ask for You to be a soothing balm for her worn out body that has been doing battle against disease. Help her to rest in the loving presence of Jesus. Give her any form of help she needs. Please keep her spirit uplifted.

May Aji suun continue to bless those sheinisters to in The Gsmbia. Please help our friend, Phos, with a meeting of her needs.

Thank You for letting us cast our cares upon You. In the name of Jesus, Amen

  2. Praying for Aji suun.

Janice, thank you for your prayers for all of us here on the blog.

Praise: I’m thankful for God’s hand of protection on my husband and the two men he was working with today. He was helping our neighbor with his tree-cutting service. They had a job today cutting down a 50-foot-high tree in someone’s yard in a city near us. They had to cut it down and haul everything, heavy limbs, smaller branches, etc. out of the fenced back yard, around all sorts of elaborate landscaping, through the carport, and to the front yard before getting it to the street to haul away. And EVERYTHING had to be picked up or vacuumed — leaves, sawdust, you name it.

The added challenge today was that they were out in the baking sun for eight hours, with a 98-degree heat index, wearing long sleeves, jeans, and chaps over them for protection. My husband and our neighbor both started getting a little bit of heat exhaustion, and had to sit in the air-conditioned truck for a while at one point. Hubby also drove two of the sons of the other worker to McDonald’s to pick up some lunch for everybody, and he told me later tonight that he had had some trouble ordering; he was a little disoriented.

I’m praising God that the effects of the heat were short-lived and easily treatable, and that the men had no accidents under those conditions.

  3. I have a prayer request also. Sundays are often challenging for us, as the transition from home to church can often be difficult for 5th Arrow (young son). If you happen to think of us Sunday mornings, we would appreciate prayers for him and us. Thanks so much.

  4. Heavenly Father,

Sometimes the seemingly small things we pray for can seem like big impossibilities. So many people have to go through a battle on Sunday mornings to get their children out the door, into the car and headed to church. Thank You for giving the parents such determination. They would be defeated except for Your guidance and the authority You give to parents.

I ask You for an ease in the pattern of resistance that 6 Arrows son has gotten into. Please help his attitude and his actions. You know what it will take to soften his resolve in this issue. I know as I said before, it seems unlikely for this to happen. If You have reason for allowing such struggles in families on Sunday morning, please make it known as to why it is a valuable lesson to the parents. Help the parents through the struggle giving them the best method of keeping the peace as they exert the full authority You have given them.

    I pray in Jesus’name, Amen

  5. 6arrows, my niece also has autism. She’s very high functioning, however, and she just started university this last week. I know the issues my sister had, especially on Sunday mornings, so I am praying for you.

  6. We didn’t realize at the time that Chrissy has Asperger’s Syndrome (aka High-Functioning Autism), but she also had trouble with getting ready for church. For a while, we “bribed” her with grabbing a McDonald’s breakfast sandwich on the way to church. Maybe bad parenting, but it worked. :-/

  7. Karen, my sister always had to say ” in 5 minutes, I need you to have your socks on” and then “in 2 minutes, I need you to put your shoes on” I don’t know how she did it. I don’t think I would have had the patience and kindness to handle that. I am now Teagan’s favourite auntie, however, despite the fact that I’m quite strict with her when she visits and make her do stuff her mom doesn’t. (Teagan’s first favourite aunt died last January). I told her when she wailed “I guess now YOU’RE my favourite auntie” that I will gladly be her second favourite aunt and Auntie Lorraine can still be her favourite aunt in heaven. She had a great first week at university – she will be studying microbiology.

  8. Karen & 6arrows, I would suggest watching the Temple Grandin movie – fascinating. She has autism, but has excelled in many things, even public speaking. She designed more humane cattle and bison handling facilities.

  9. Thank you so much to everyone who prayed for L. about the horse show. She won two first place ribbons and one second place ribbon, making her grand champion in her class! She was radiant!

One of my sister’s sons has Asperger’s. He’s now a senior in high school and has done remarkably well, both in school and life. He made a perfect score on the verbal section of the SAT as well as high scores on the other sections. Additionally, he has a very high GPA, so his options for college are wide open. He had a lot of therapy as a child–occupational, physical and other kinds– that really seemed to help him.

  10. Thank you for your prayers and comments. Everything went very smoothly this morning. I’m at the library right now with 5th Arrow while hubby is shopping with the girls 😉 I am checking out the Temple Grandin movie. She is one fascinating lady. I read her book The Way It Is a couple years ago, and that was so helpful. I see she has a new book out this year, entitled The Autistic Brain: Thinking Across the Spectrum, so I will be checking that one out today, as well.

I appreciate all your encouragement, ladies.

  11. I am having a very bad afternoon today. BG has been with me all weekend and we had a good time. She and Mr P even got along. Tomorrow is her 16th birthday and it will be the first one that I don’t get to wake her up, fix her something special for breakfast, sing a goofy song, etc. Her dad and his family have planned dinner and cake tomorrow night, but I am not included. I am hurt and somewhat angry.

  12. oh, Kim, I am so sad for you. I lost my kids on Christmas morning and still feel like I am missing Christmas. Those times are so special. Give yourself permission to throw eggs at trees and then to cry.

  13. Correction on the first title of Temple Grandin’s that I mentioned above. It should read “The Way I See It“. I drove home from the library thinking, did I misquote that title? Sure enough! 😉 Just thought I’d mention that, in case anyone is interested in reading that book.

Kim, I’m very sorry. That’s gotta hurt. I’ll be praying for you tonight and tomorrow. You are a good mom, and though they are not including you in their plans, they cannot take away the gift of your love for your daughter.

    Hugs and blessings to you.

  14. Kim – That really, really stinks. I hope & pray someone comes to their senses & remembers to invite you. As Jo says, let yourself have a good cry.

Mumsee – There is a weighted blanket that helps comfort some autistic children. Seems like a similar idea to the squeeze chute.
