Prayer Requests 8-28-13

Who can we pray for today?

And it’s Wednesday, so please remember Gambia. 🙂

Psalm 18:20-36

20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

24 Therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

28 For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.

29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

31 For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God?

32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

33 He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

  1. I think that this is a fitting psalm to crown the work that Wilberforce spent his life doing – the end of slavery in the British empire. It was not an easy task and took a lifetime to accomplish.

  2. Youngest child is off to school today. Prayer that she will be treated as a small child, not a baby. She is little and cute and people tend to baby her but she can do great things and should be encouraged to do so.

  3. Things went badly today with my son. He sttill has rages and I don’t know how to prevent them or how stop them once they start. Cussing is in the mix now.

  4. When my twelve year old would melt down into a rage (age eight to ten), I went to her and held her very securely. Have you tried that? She would lie across my lap with my arms around her so she could fight and push and rage and not get away. She says it made her feel safe. She got the same feeling from watching Temple Grandon’s movie and the cow squeeze chute. She might scream and fight for half an hour or more but we just sat until she was done. That went on with less and less frequency until we suddenly realized she had stopped entirely. Now she knows to come to me when the anxiousness is first coming on, she gets a good cuddle and she can let it go and move on in life.

  5. Mumsee, Hubby has done that and I did that when he was younger and got destructive. I will try it again. My instinct has always been to try and solve the problem that is making him angry. That almost never works. Problem is he is now stronger than I am.

  6. He might just need a refill. Daughter did that a couple of times. But generally she just gets the hug before she is out of control. If you get him in the correct position, he being stronger won’t be an issue.
