Prayer Requests 8-23-13

Anyone have a request or praise to share today?

Psalm 15

1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.

In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

  1. Prayers requested for Becca today. She has a dentist appointment this morning and is terrified. She has to get x-rays and a cleaning. At her last appointment six months ago, they were unable to do everything they needed to do as she had a complete meltdown and refused to cooperate. Her teeth look dirty and need a thorough cleaning, so if anyone is able, please cover her in prayer from around 8:30-9:30 CST. Thanks!

  2. Pray for a friend of mine, A, who is in his mid-70s, a retired journalist who is battling the effects of Parkinson’s. He’s recently signed on to what I think is an internet scam — I stopped by his place on the way home from work last night to take a look at the website that he said he was having trouble with.

I think I gently was able to raise enough doubts for him about it all last night (and his sister also now knows about it). But he seems to think that he’ll be getting checks for hundreds of dollars from this place just by registering. Unfortunately he already gave them his debit card # but right after that he had to get a new card anyway so I just stressed not to give them the new number and to keep an eye on his bank account (he says it’s empty anyway, but thieves can still find ways to get his to SSI or VA direct deposits when they come in, I’m thinking).

What’s frustrating is he’s a very talented writer — a skill which no longer can make one much money in the marketplace, sadly. He also paints, but artists have the same problem. And the Parkinson’s now has affected his thinking & communication ability, I’m afraid.

This just seemed like easy money to him. But I told him sometimes when things sound to good to be true … they are. He knows that. But he lives on a shoestring & I think he is just wanting to believe it’s all legit.

  3. Sad to hear about your friend, donna. It is so sad that there is always someone to take advantage of people who cannot think straight. I guess that is the nature of sin and am so glad we have a Savior and Righteous Judge.

Glad Becca did ok. I hope this will build up her courage for other times.

  6. Donna, it seems that your friend needs to appoint a truseworthy power of attorney.
I had to discourage my dad from falling into such traps.
“Ain’t nobody going to send you no money through the mail.”
“What did you do to win a million dollars?”
The only way you can get free money is to be a politician of kin to one.

  7. Heavenly Father,

Thank You so much for seeing Mumsee and Mike through the tough times that were so unexpected and seemingly unnecessary. I do pray that some good was worked out by You which will be known to all in Your timing. Thank You for allowing them to be lifted up in prayer and carried forward to this day of rejoicing.

I lift up the elderly gentleman friend of Donna who is being preyed upon by scam artists. Please let him see the truth of the scheme and how to get himself out of the clutches of the schemers. I pray for all such evildoers to be found out and stopped either by jail time or some other method, hopefully a turning of their hearts and minds from a life of crime and schemeing to a life of living for You and by Your ways of righteousness. Please give Your help in trouble times to this man before his troubles multiply.

Thank You, Lord, for this blessed site where we all gather and know people care about us and those we care about. We are so very blessed. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen

  8. Chas: Becca did very well at the dentist. She cooperated enough for them to get all needed x-rays and they managed to get most of the tartar off her front bottom teeth (which looked pretty bad). We’re going back in three months instead of six for just a cleaning to keep the tartar from building up so badly. I was so proud of her! Afterwards, to celebrate her good behavior, we went to Build-a-Bear. Thanks to everyone who prayed for her. She was aware some of mommy’s online friends were praying for her and she said that made her feel brave. Thanks to all who held her up in prayer.

  9. Mumsee, I got tears in my eyes telling 3rd Arrow your good news. She asks nearly every day what prayer requests there are. She was thrilled to know how God came through.

My friend who leads the Bible study I mentioned above was very moved by the news, as well. She said, “To God be the glory…”

    Great things He hath done!
