Prayer Requests 7-17-13

Who has a request or praise to share today?

And it’s Wednesday, so please remember Gambia. 🙂

Psalm 119:138-156

138 Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful.

139 My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.

140 Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

141 I am small and despised: yet do not I forget thy precepts.

142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights.

144 The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.

145 I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord: I will keep thy statutes.

146 I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies.

147 I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word.

148 Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.

149 Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O Lord, quicken me according to thy judgment.

150 They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.

151 Thou art near, O Lord; and all thy commandments are truth.

152 Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.

153 Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law.

154 Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word.

155 Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.

156 Great are thy tender mercies, O Lord: quicken me according to thy judgments.

  1. Ukarumpa is about 7 kilometers off the main road at Kainantu. Right before Kainantu is a bridge, the Kingston bridge, and it is falling apart. This is our only route out of here other than planes. All of our supplies and even aviation fuel come in this way. Today they announced here that all of our rental vehicles are now being kept in Kainantu. So to go somewhere we need to get someone to drive us to the bridge and then walk across and walk to the petrol station where the vehicles are. I won’t be going anywhere. Please pray that the public works department would replace this bridge. There are land issues involved. We have even heard that all the replacement parts are in town and are waiting for heavy equipment to arrive. No one really knows the situation but God.

  4. Jo, Did you, by any chance, know Carl and Jody Campbell with Wycliffe in Ukarumpa? Carl is my DIL’s cousin and we contribute to their support through Wycliffe.

  6. Janice, I always love to read your prayers. Have you ever thought of writing a book of prayers for different situations or some sort of daily devotional?

I came to ask you for prayers specifically for Mumsee. She is having to do everthing herself. She has a husband who has always taken the children everywhere they wanted and needed to go. Now she is doing it all. She is also having to tell a few that the plans they have made for certain activities, now the possibly won’t be able to do it.

  7. I posted late last night on the prayer thread that 5th Arrow had a headache and fever, and we suspected he had a tick-borne illness. By this morning, he had developed a rash at the site where the tick had embedded last week (on the right side of his head close to his face), so our suspicions were confirmed. That side of his face is a little swollen, also, and he cried when he tried pulling a T-shirt over his head to get dressed this morning. Hubby took him to the doctor, and he’s had one dose of the antibiotics he was prescribed. He’s still feverish and lethargic, but the swelling seems to have gone down a little, and we are hopeful for a good outcome with treatment. Please pray for his comfort while we wait for the antibiotics to more fully take hold.

  8. Thank you all for the encouraging words on prayer. God gets the glory for His gifting of people. There are some really good books already available on prayer. Beth Moore has one on praying scripture and Germaine Copeland has a good book of Spirit led prayers for all kind of situations. I think my prayers are pretty specific according to individual needs and not useful for putting into a book for general public use. But thanks for the affirmation that my efcort spent is helpful.

  9. Heavenly Father,

6 Arrow’s son is in need of a special touch of healing from the affliction brought on by the horrible tick bite. Lord, I know You have Your reasons for ticks. Some creatures that cause such illness we feel no desire to have in our lives. I pray no one else in the family will be latched onto by ticks. I pray the antibiotic will knock out anything residual from the bite. I pray this young man’s body will be a hostile environment for any lasting effects of the bite. No complications, please. Ticks are horrible this year! They have practically jumped on my brother.
