Prayer Requests 6-13-13

Who can we pray for today?

And please continue to keep NancyJill and her neighbors in mind too.

Psalm 98

1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.

Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together

Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

  1. Good Morning…the sheriff cam by last night and told us we could stay the night, as the fires had not jumped the northern roads as of yet…we are under a mandatory evacuation this morning…we’ll be heading out soon…the smoke is thick and stings the eyes…
We have learned of more friend’s losing their homes…life as we have known it is forever changed…and after today…perhaps even more so…we pray for our Lord’s direction and peace in the midst of this storm…

  2. Heavenly Father,

You are always in the midst of the storms of life whether the storms are literal or figurative. Thank You for being that center of the storm where peace and calm resides. Thank You for giving reminders that life is more precious than any material belongings. You give us good priorities for our lives so that we can have some joy and peace over what is salvaged when even more could have been lost. Thank You for good memories of better times. All the times of our liives could have been one disaster of momumental proportions after another. But You have provided good times that we can remember with fondness. I pray for all those suffering loss in the area where Nancy Jill has called home. Please let there be a calming of the disaster so people have a chance to take stock and determine what their next plan of action should be. Thank You for disaster teams and what has been learned through past disasters. Response is blessed because of past losses. You are a mighty help in trouble times. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen

  3. Please pray for my friend W. She just got a call that her mother had a massive stroke. She is getting ready to leave work and go. She will be on the road about 4 hours. Not sure what she will face when she gets there.

  4. I remember being concerned we may have to evacuate. I was so relieved when that did not come to pass. Praying for NancyJill and all involved. Prayers for your friend and her mother, too, Kim.

  5. Don’t think she’d mind my sharing this — from nancyjill on fb in the past few hours:

” … the sheriff told us we could stay here last night, but, this morning we will head over to our daughter’s home in town…..we are now in the mandatory evacuate zone…doesn’t look good for our area what is to happen this afternoon….thanks for your thoughts and prayers … the sheriff hasn’t been by this morning yet, but we are on mandatory evacuation…once we leave we can’t come back…this really stinks!

  6. Pastor Roy would be affected by this as well, wouldn’t he? Just looked closely at the evacuation map; I suspect our friends’ house–one we’ve worked on with them–probably has burned to the ground. Very difficult for all. My colleague, married to a firefighter, evacuated several hours ago–she’s near the freeway.

They say this fire already has consumed more homes than the one last year.

  7. Thank you so much for the many prayers for those of us who are facing the unknown….we have checked into a hotel that lets you keep your dogs with you! Babe and Fly are much more settled here than what was going on at my daughter’s home…it was just too disorienting for them….We’ve checked in for a week and we are in good company in a hotel full of evacuees (and dog lovers 🙂 )….we are praying that we might be an encouragement and witness to our Lord’s watchful care over us all….it doesn’t look like our home has been affected yet…two people were found today in the Black Forest who did not survive the fire…we pray no more lives are lost and that the family experiencing the loss will be comforted. Five of our dearest friends have lost their homes…we are still uncertain of how many more will be lost….Michelle…is your colleague Rachelle? I know her…she was in my bookclub!
