Prayer Requests 5-11-13

Who can we pray for today?

Psalm 37:1-9

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

  1. I have a friend, Melba, who had a massive stroke. Left side paralyzed. She has spoken, but expected to only live a few days. Please pray for her peace and that all is well between her and the Lord. She is eighty-eight.

  2. Thanks for praying for the team here in The Gambia. It was a very rough week! All of the problems haven’t gone away, but we can feel the prayers holding us up and pushing back the evil forces.

  3. Small prayer request. Wisdom. Son made it through district track and is now looking at State. We have not let people go to state in the past as they do not have the ability to stay on track when around their peers. Hmmmm. He has only been here two years. But….maybe….

  4. Jimmy had his leg removed. They didn’t say how much. Reported to be in good spirits. They say he is already much better with the gangrene part gone.

  5. The time has come to ask our upstairs tenants to start looking for another place to live. We really, really need the space, & I’ve gotten to the point of “I can’t do this anymore”. (Not because I don’t love having my daughters & grandson here – I do! – but because some of the aspects of the situation are wearing on me.)

The problem is that these people are not merely tenants, but dear friends, who struggle financially. The rent we’ve charged them is much lower than anything else around this area. Then there is the matter of Sukie. For years, Art, Marlene, & the girls longed for a dog. We gave them permission to have a dog here, & so they got Sukie, a very sweet dog, well-loved by her people. (We love her, too!) Apartments that allow dogs are very few & far between, & usually require a higher security deposit.

Praying God will make a way for them. I don’t want my blessing to come at the expense of their well-being & happiness. So please pray that God would open up something wonderful for them. And also that God would prepare their hearts for me asking them to start looking. (We are not going to push them to move out quickly; we’ll let them take their time.)
