Prayer Requests 4-19-13

Who can we pray for today?

Psalm 147:1-12

1 Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

2 The Lord doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.

3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

6 The Lord lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.

7 Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:

8 Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

9 He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

10 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.

11 The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.

  1. I posted the other night that 2nd Arrow, who was just getting over bronchitis, now has tonsillitis. She missed four days of school with the bronchitis and at least that many days of work. Now she’s missing more school and work with the tonsillitis; she’ll be off until Tuesday.

My main concern, of course, would be that she would get better and not get repeated infections. One of her concerns is probably about keeping up with school. The vet tech program in which she is enrolled has, in my estimation, a pretty stupid requirement that all students have to stay with the program for all five consecutive semesters, or they lose their place in it, and have to re-enroll at the very beginning if they need to drop out of it for a time. Unless this is a misunderstanding on her part, but it doesn’t sound like it is.

As a mother, I would like to see her take a break to get a handle on the health issues that are wearing her down. But she can’t do that without losing her spot in the program apparently, which would be a hugely time-consuming and money-wasting venture to have to begin again, although this is only the second semester. Could be worse, I guess, if she were farther than that into the program.

Yet if she’s beating her body so badly, things may get so bad in the future that she might have to drop out for a while at an even later stage. 😦

She’s got some tough realities to face at only 19 years of age. Please pray that she will make wise decisions.

  2. My youngest, Becca, (8), is quite sick. She’s running a fever of 103.5 and feels miserable. We have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon to rule out strep, but I think it’s the flu, as I first came down with it about two weeks ago and my doctor said the incubation period was two weeks. Please pray she would be able to fight off this awful virus without getting any secondary infections. Thanks!

  3. Praying for Boston today. 😦

I love the juxtaposition of verses 3 and 4 of Psalm 147:
3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

The One who cares for each individual is the same One who made the stars.

  4. Prayer for the woman who left. (T). She has been abandoned by the guy and his woman who was supposed to be headed for rehab. They stole all the money and the car. I suspect there is serious stuff on the computer and they will not be around these parts any time soon. But we will continue to keep our eyes open.

Prayer for her, prayer for wisdom, prayer that the perps will be caught and put away before they do more damage to more people.

  5. Husband has been diligently working out identity theft plans. The guy who left is quite the master at stealing other folks id’s and they were in our house so it is quite possible we will be hit, or have been. For sure the guy who was robbed has been. He is just a nice guy who is doing what he can.

  6. Mumsee: I’m so sorry! I will be praying for God’s protection in this situation.

Update on Becca: We saw the doctor this afternoon. They tested for both the flu and strep. Thankfully, the flu test came up negative, although she does have strep. But, of the two, I’d much rather have it be strep, since it can be treated with antibiotics and tends to respond rather quickly to them. She should be feeling better on Sunday. Her fever has spiked all day. We’ve been alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen to keep it down, as she vomits as soon as it goes over 102 (both of my children have done this all their lives–vomiting with a high fever). Anyway, thanks for the prayers for her. So thankful to live in a country where it is easy to be seen by a doctor to get the medicine we need for our children.

6 Arrows: How is your daughter this evening?
