Prayer Requests 4-17-13

Who can we pray for today?

And it’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for Gambia. 🙂

Psalm 145

1 I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.

2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.

3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.

4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.

5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

6 And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.

7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.

8 The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

9 The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

10 All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.

11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;

12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.

13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

14 The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.

16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

18 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.

21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever

  1. A friend who had a stroke a few years ago is “having unbearable pain on my crainectomy scars”. I not sure what that means but he is asking for prayer. His name is George.

  2. Rough start to the morning with one child running through the house, crying loudly, upset that he can’t find his dad, who went to the neighbor’s right before son woke up, and another child yelling at her brother because he woke her up. Everybody is now awake and I haven’t had my quiet time with the Lord yet.

  3. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the peace we can feel when we remember You and Your promises in Your word. Help us to be more trusting and faithful with our hearts always turned toward You.

Please help Kbell’s friend, George, with that terrible pain. It must be so horrible to have unrelievable pain. Please give him an easing of that pain so he is able to think of other things besides just that he hurts. Please may it quickly diminish and give him forgetfulness of how bad the pain was just as You bless ladies with forgetfulness of the pain of labor. You give us so many good gifts daily Abba. You hold the gifts and release them at just the right time. Please let that time be now for George.

I lift up 6 Arrows to You for blessing today. May her rough start to the day become a contrast to the good ending. May the day get better and brighter. I pray for all the children to be diligent with their studies, interested in learning more rather than less, and for them to be willing to be cooperative when something needs doing. Bless them with some fun and laughter scattered throughout the seriousness of studying certain subjects. Please give them determination to stick with their lessons until the work is finished. Thank You, Lord, for the many ways You have of bringing peace into our homes.

Lord, I lift up Kim for Your blessing as she is expecting this to be a long day. When people make that comment it usually means long in the sense of being a hard day. It seems the good and fun days fly by too quickly. I pray You will pack Kim’s long day with goodness, mercy and love that she did not expect to receive. Give her energy to meet the demands of the day. Bless all those in her family who are trying new things in hopes of a better future. May they each turn to You at moments of decision or moments that require patience and grace. Thank You for Your willingness to step in and help when our situations overwhelm us.

These days the needs of people seem extra large. We don’t order them up that way like at a fast food drive-thru. The needs are just so incredibly great these days. Please give us stamina to be a help when we can and the ability to encourage others along the path they must endure. Help us to not grow weary or discouraged in doing good to advance Your kingdom. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen

  4. Things continue to get uglier on the women front. One keeps alluding to her boyfriend committing a homicide, and there is evidence on her computer, which she pawned. Mike had picked up the computer because she wanted the papers her daughter had written and is keeping it until she pays him. She gave him the ticket to do that. But the pawn folk asked if he wanted the pistol she pawned as well. When I asked her about the pistol she was quite taken aback that we knew about it. I am concerned it was the murder weapon. The sheriff dept here is not taking this stuff seriously.

  5. Anyway, trying to figure if we return the computer, continue to try to get the law’s attention, or what. Only God knows the heart.

  6. “Amen,” to Janice’s prayer.

Mumsee – If there is any evidence at all on that computer, I would think it best to turn it over to the police. I’d be afraid that if anything came out later, & the police find out you had this, it could be very bad for you & Mike. Or, if you think they wouldn’t bother to check it out, maybe turn it over to a lawyer?

    (Is this lady Darby’s mom?)

  7. It has been turned over and the car has been sniffed. They were carrying drugs and apparently a lot. The console had been removed and replaced and apparently there is large storage capacity there and several other places. But it has been well cleaned so six year old should be well. He told us to be very cautious in further cleaning as it may still have some. The dog was certain.

  8. Thank you for your prayers – today was our day of prayer. I have seen a lot happen since I came here (it is hard to believe that I have been here over half a year now), but there is still much work to be done. Pray for guidance and strength.

  9. Donna, 3rd Arrow and I loved your “Good morning 6 arrows.” 😉 greeting after my post, LOL! Thank you!

Janice, thank you for your prayer. Indeed, the day has gotten better and brighter, and we’ve certainly had fun and laughter amid the work. I so much appreciate your prayers. 🙂

Praying for all the needs mentioned here, too. Blessings to you all.

  10. I don’t know if anything is wrong. I do know she was mad when I told her we had turned her computer over. If she is still in contact with him (because she may be lying and not really trying to get clean) he could be dangerous. He knows where we live. He is wanted in several states. They have a nation wide alert out for him. He thinks I have ruined his life. Other than that, I can’t think of a thing. But God knows His plans.

  11. I just learned that 2nd Arrow, who had bronchitis recently and missed nearly a week of school and work, now has tonsillitis. 😦 More meds. Prayers for her health and that she would find the time (and use wisdom and discernment) to take care of herself.

  12. Wow, prayers for all above.

I’d like to ask for prayer for myself. In one short week I’ve gone from loving my job to wondering if I should just quit and stay home. If I could find a part time job closer to home, I would probably quit ASAP, but we’re not sure if we can handle not having the extra income right now.

Prayer would also be good for my boss. There seems to be something going on in her life that is making her extremely concerned about her practice and making life almost impossible for the front desk people and therapists. (At least, that’s the only thing I can think of for this change.)

  13. Praying for you and your boss, Kare.

There were a couple times in the years since I’ve been married that I wondered how we would manage if I quit working for pay. I was a school teacher up to the birth of 2nd Arrow, and planned to return to work after my maternity leave. (She was born in May, and I didn’t have to return until late August.) But then my babysitter quit in early August, and I couldn’t find anyone who could care for both of my kids (I didn’t want them going to separate sitters), except for one person whom I didn’t know and whose place didn’t give me a good feeling. So we took the leap and I quit my almost fulltime job, going from 2 incomes to 1 and going from being a family of three to a family of four.

We didn’t struggle as much as I thought we would, but I did start teaching piano lessons from home (starting mostly with families whose children I had taught in school) about 5 months after resigning my school teaching position.

Fast forward nine years. I was pregnant with 5th Arrow, and my other children were ages 13, 10, 6 and 2. I was homeschooling, dealing with family health issues that needed much of my time to address, and other things, and preparing for and teaching piano lessons just became too time-consuming.

I wanted to quit to devote more time to family, but my biggest fear was how we would be able to pay our property taxes. My piano lesson income was what we used to pay them, and if that income were gone, then my husband’s paycheck would have to stretch a lot farther, and we were pretty much living paycheck to paycheck at that time.

Long story short, I did quit, and the Lord did provide. It wasn’t without a lot of sacrifice, but we have never once been late with any of our property tax payments in the ten years since I have stopped working. And all of our needs have been met, too. No one’s gone hungry, we have everything we need and more.

I won’t say it’s easy, but it does teach the very powerful truth that we can fully rely on the Lord for His provision.

Seek Him, Kare, for what His will is for your family, and then step out in faith and watch Him do amazing things!

    Blessings.
