Prayer Requests 4-2-13

Who would like to share a request or praise today?

Psalm 104:1-5

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

3 Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.

  1. A praise and a couple requests:

The praise is that yesterday we bought a Suburban and today we sold our van after only one day of parking it in a prominent location in town! Free advertising, and we sold it for twice the amount the dealer from whom we bought the Suburban was going to give us on trade-in.

And the requests: hubby woke up today after only four hours of sleep, and decided to run some errands. He was going to come back home to try to sleep some more in the afternoon before work, but he wasn’t home long and the guy who bought the van called, so after driving back into town to meet him and take care of that whole transaction, there wasn’t enough time for him to sleep once he got home before having to head out to work (and at least one more errand before work). Is that a convoluted enough sentence? 😉 Anyway, prayers that he’ll be able to get through an approximately 12-hour shift tonight on only four hours sleep and about 19-20 waking hours following that.

Also, hubby and I suspect we may have eaten some bad salmon last night. It was left over from the Easter gathering, and both of us ate some more last night (but the kids did not), and both hubby and I developed stomach aches afterward, him last night and me this morning. The kids are fine, and my stomach ache (and I think my husband’s) is pretty much gone. Requesting prayer that that’s the end of it, and also that it’s not actually some virus or something that could go through the house.

  2. I haven’t been doing well emotionally lately. It seems like once I decide to be content with the situation in one area, the stress ramps way up in another area. Please pray.

  3. After a light load the last several months, my workload now is the busiest it has been since I married. My husband is great–he went out to get food tonight even though he isn’t feeling all that great–but it’s a lot to keep up with, and with marriage responsibilities I didn’t have last time I was this busy. And usually I am not this busy until May, and then May and June are crazy . . . so I’m not sure what to expect then. 🙂 Anyway, it’s good to be busy, especially knowing that I’ll be able to “rest” the second half of the year, but I need to keep on top of it and give my clients my best work.

At least it’s all work that I like, which does make it easier. Last year I had several projects I didn’t like (or with which I disagreed theologically), and that can make it trickier.

  4. Heavenly Father,

These days are being rough on some of our friends here. Please bring relief. Some like Idaho Mike need a healing touch, a shooing away of the infection that is bothering his body. Please make the medication be effective. Help him to get the rest he needs so he will not be so suseptible to infection. Please help Mumsee, too, as she has even more responsibility when her husband is not well. I pray that all the children in their care are being on extra good behavior knowing that their goodness felt in the household will help restore their dad,s health.

Abba, You child Karen O is feeling down about things right now. I feel sad, too, that our prayers for her daughter to go to church on Easter Sunday were not yet answered. Help us all to trust in Your good and excellent plan that says wait for the better to happen later rather than what we wanted for this past Sunday. We are shortsighted and can not see the long term arrangements You are making for her good. Give us greater faith when the times seem overwhelming and dark. I pray You will relieve the stresses that are pressing against Karen and her husband. Please help them to find the rest from burdens and contentment with what You provide so they can better enjoy life instead of just feeling like they are surviving it. I pray that for all of us here on this site.

Lord, You know how we, in my own family, always feel overwhelmed by the demands of tax season. It just gets so crazy. The hours are not healthy. Please help my husband to complete all the work that is pressing upon him. I pray for good relationships within the office and that all the office machines everyone is so dependent upon will be working properly. I pray for the clients who have waited until the end to be patient. Also I pray for all the people who have to pay additional taxes to be able to make their payments. It can be such a hard time for many. And doing taxes is always a bad reminder for some that they are still unemployed. Please help those who are suffering like that.

I ask, Lord, that You would bless Six Arrows and her husband with full recovery from the food they ate that had an adverse effect. Please make a way for her husband to feel lively even with less sleep than usual. Sometimes we wonder how we can get through things and that is when You show Your strength to support us in our weakness. You are an awesome God in our times of physical need.

Thank You for another beautiful Easter and letting us know Your eternal plans for us even when we are unsure of what will come even tomorrow. You are in control and we are in Your good care for eternity. Thank You, in Jesus’ name, Amen
