Prayer Requests 3-15-13

Who would you like us to pray for today?

I would like to request that you keep Cynthia in your prayers as she recovers from the first round of chemo, which should be finished today. And also in the weeks to come as she continues her cancer treatments.

Thanks folks. 🙂

Psalm 61:1-4

1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

  1. Please pray for my son today. He’s driving to Virginia Beach for the weekend to visit some friends from college. He is also going to meet the little boy who was born last week to his best friend. he will be the boy’s godfather. He takes that duty seriously. Pray for safe travels.

Please pray for my safe travels to MI and back and along the way. I will be driving MIL to visit her sister and a church friend who lives downstate in the winter. The church friend, Florence has just been diagnosed with liver cancer.

We will be visiting with a neighbor who also lives downstate. He is my age (early 50s) and had been diagnosed just before Christmas with small cell cancer. He has been undergoing chemo and radiation.

There is another neighbor who has congestive heart failure, and his wife just had a knee replacement.

One has neighbor had twin grandchildren who were very premature when they were born in Sept. (Madison and Benjamin) they have been in and out of the hospital – mostly in. They both have some major health problems.

While I am away, if you think of me please pray for these folks in MI on my prayer list.

Hopefully, I will have updates when I return.

  2. Klasko: I’ll be praying for the above mentioned needs during your absence.

Praise report: I had a good nights sleep last night and awakened without a migraine. Hubby was extremely supportive last night. We talked for a couple of hours about everything that had transpired during my trip home. We decided that that was the last time I will ever stay in the main house. My parents have six cabins on their property that they rent out as vacation rentals, but they were all full for spring break, so I was stuck in the house with them. I really need a place to escape to in the evenings once my mom becomes intoxicated. She is a pugnacious drunk and the only sane thing to do is to be out of her orbit once she is in such a state.

I would like to ask for continued prayers for her. It would be a miracle if she became sober, as she is now 76 and her denial is very strong. She recently commented to me that she has only been drunk one time in her life. This from a woman who begins drinking bourbon with a splash of water (it looks like very strong iced tea) at 3:00 every afternoon! By 6:00, she is slurring her words and has difficulty walking a straight line. She’s had numerous unexplained falls and remembers almost nothing past 6:00pm. She will ask you the same question at 15 minute intervals b/c her memory is so impaired from the alcohol. Also, prayers for my daughter, Lindsey, as she has just become aware of the severity of her grandmother’s alcoholism at the tender age of 13 (I was 12 the first time I confronted my mom about her drinking).

Thank you to all who hold me and my family up in prayer.

  3. Prayer for the Nest please. As some of you may know, children in foster care are thought to have approximately 85% chance of being sexualized. That can mean actual physically or through watching porn. That manifests in things like anger and depression and developmental delays and bed wetting and sexual behavior. I won’t say what percentage of our children have that problem but we do deal with it. And seemingly innocuous things can trigger behaviors just by setting their thoughts back in time. Anyway, we have to keep our four youngest from playing together. At all. It is trying. And we cannot leave the younger children in the care of the older children at all. And the list goes on. Something triggered and now we are set back several months in our training. Please pray for us and for His Peace to again envelop the Nest. Thanks.

  4. Klasko: Glad to hear you son arrived safely.

Mumsee: That must be so hard. When I was working as a social worker at a residential treatment center, I was saddened by all the kids who had been sexualized. I will be praying for them and for you.
