Prayer Requests 3-1-13

Who can we pray for today?

Psalm 5:1-3

1 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.

2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

  1. Prayers for a meeting I am having this morning with my neighbors with the barking dogs and a mediator at the DA’s office. The Humane Society wants to take this to court…Paul and I believe strongly we are not to be involved with taking a neighbor to court…the dogs are neglected and are left outdoors all day in freezing cold temps (not long haired dogs either)…desiring the Lord to direct the meeting and grace to abound….

  2. This is “Mrs. the real Aj”….. Allen’s blood pressure has been consistently high hours before his next dosage of meds, so he called the dr this morning and is there now. Would appreciate prayers for him and for the dr to have wisdom.

  3. I’m home.

And I’m not real happy. More medication. Great. 😦

Seems I’m still way too anxious and high strung. Go figure. We’ve adjusted 2 medications and added a 3rd. I’m eating better, but I’m still too wound up and it’s elevating my blood pressure to high levels. I could really use some prayer. I need to find a way to deal with stress.

    Thanks
    Allen

  4. Glad to hear you’re back at home, AJ. A good friend of mine who leads a Bible study I attend encouraged us at the end of our study on Philippians to read the whole book out loud in one sitting. It only takes maybe 15 minutes, but the book is so rich in truths that we can cling to, especially in times of affliction. I’ve found Chapter 4 to be particularly comforting during times of stress.

6 Be careful [anxious] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I’ll keep you in my prayers.

  5. AJ, Mumsee’s advice may seem facetious, but there’s something to that.
Sometimes, when my gut starts constricting, I turn it off and read something.
    And, sometimes, it helps.

  6. I’m having to remind myself A LOT lately to stop worrying and to trust in God. I may have to stop listening to the news on my commutes, at least. We had more layoffs today, but not in our department. Still, good people gone.

  7. I ask for prayers that I could get my weight back up again. I lost another pound recently. I know weight can fluctuate, but my weight has been within the same 3-pound range for approximately three years; now I’ve dropped three pounds below the bottom of that range just in the last couple months. My weight is much too low for a 5’8″ woman, even a small-boned one like me, in my opinion and my husband’s.

  8. Prayers for my husband, too, please. What was supposed to be a one-to-two-week period of long overnight work hours in early January has now gone on for two months and will extend for at least another month. Two people have quit, one got fired, one is about to leave for military training, and there really was one short to begin with. Only one person has been hired so far to replace all these, so this particular shift my husband is working will continue until they can get more workers. He is just beat beyond words by the end of each week.

  9. 6 Arrows, I’ll pray for your husband.
About your weight. If there’s nothing physically wrong with you, I wouldn’t worry about it. I have been underweight all my life. Until I started getting middle age, that is.
I was a scrawny kid. I failed my first physical to get into the AF. I went home and ate bananas and drank lots of water before the second exam and got in.
I failed my first flight physical because I was underweight. The doctor put me on a weight gaining regimen until I passed the physical.
In San Antonio, our 1923 AACS squadron was bunked in a large room. I had come in off the night shift and gone to bed. During an inspection, the major said, “Why isn’t this bed made up?” The sergeant said, “There’s someone in it sir.”
😆 That’s what they told me.
When I first started to work at the Army Map Service, I needed suits that looked appropriately tailored. Nothing off the rack would fit. So, I had all my suits tailored until I was about 55.
    When I married I was 5’11” and weighed 125#.
    (Now I’m 5’9″ and weigh 161#.)
If you’re healthy, don’t worry about the weight and get a job modeling.
    I’m 82.5, in case you don’t know.
I’m also a real nosy critter who can’t mind his own business.

You’re not nosy! I put the information on here — I appreciate your input. 🙂

I’ve never been one to worry much about what number is on the scale when I step on, as long as I look and feel good. Trouble is, I have a lot of fatigue, my food sensitivities are mounting and I’m more limited in what I can eat without causing problems with a variety of things, and I don’t think I look very good, either. (I actually found a picture recently of 1st Arrow and me when he was a toddler. My weight was about 20 pounds more then than it is now, and most people would look at that picture and say that I look relatively thin. I looked pretty good then. Now, not so much.)

So I guess it’s more the combination of low weight (I weigh about 15 pounds less than I did when I got my first driver’s license at age 16, and I wasn’t finished growing yet at that point) and not feeling the greatest that is the biggest problem.

Thanks for your prayers for my husband. He’s got a lot on his plate and can’t sleep very well during the day: doze, wake up; doze, wake up; etc. And it didn’t help too much when I told him today what my weight is 😦 — he worries about it.
