Guilty Pleas From FRC Shooter

Floyd Corkins, the man responsible for shooting Family Research Council security guard Leo Johnson has pleaded guilty to multiple charges. Corkins plead guilty to one federal count of crossing state lines with  guns and ammunition, one count of intent to kill while  armed, and one count of committing an act of terrorism with the intent to kill.

Were it not for Mr. Johnson’s heroism, this could have been much worse. In fact, the shooter has confirmed he had far worse in mind.

From ABC/WJLA

“A man accused of shooting a security guard inside the downtown Washington  headquarters of a conservative Christian lobbying group pleaded guilty Wednesday  in connection with the shooting.”

“Prosecutors say Corkins, who had been volunteering at a center for gay,  lesbian and transgender people, was carrying ammunition and Chick-fil-A  sandwiches in his bag. Chick-fil-A was making headlines at the time because of  its president’s stated opposition to gay marriage.

Corkins intended to smear the sandwiches in the faces of his victims to make  a statement about gay rights opponents, he acknowledged during a hearing  Wednesday.”

The piece goes on to mention comments from FRC Pres. Tony Perkins about the shooters motivation, and the possible role of the Southern Poverty Law Center. I’ve said for years that the SPLC is what they say they’re against, a hate group. Democrat funded, founded, and backed, they are the shocktroops used against anyone who dares disagree with their ideals. Conservative organizations have long been in the SPLC’s crosshairs. The Obama admin and the FBI both allow this group to hold undue influence in policy making. It’s not just a coincidence that many of these SPLC labeled “hate groups” are also the same groups fighting the Obama admin agenda on many different fronts. While they still list some actual hate groups like Neo Nazi’s and skinheads, and of course the Klan, they’ve evolved into being little more than a liberal advocacy group with a partisan agenda against conservative causes. Perkins elaborates further on this in an email, with more info that ABC didn’t get to, in the link below.

From LifeNews

“Today’s hearing also revealed that in the interview with the FBI right after the shooting, the shooter admitted his guilt, which was captured on video. Corkins said he intended to “kill as many as possible and smear the Chick-Fil-A sandwiches in victims’ faces, and kill the guard.” The prosecutor said they reviewed the family computer and found that he identified his targets on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s web site.”

““The day after Floyd Corkins came into the FRC headquarter and opened fire wounding one of our team members, I stated that while Corkins was responsible for the shooting, he had been given a license to perpetrate this act of violence by groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center which has systematically and recklessly labeled every organization with which they disagree as a ‘hate group,’” he said.”

“Perkins added, “The Southern Poverty Law Center can no longer say that it is not a source for those bent on committing acts of violence. Only by ending its hate labeling practices will the SPLC send a message that it no longer wishes to be a source for those who would commit acts of violence that are only designed to intimidate and silence Christians and others who support natural marriage and traditional morality.””

Anyone unfamiliar with the history, tactics, and backers of the SPLC can learn more about them at this piece from last year. Hate is big business.

From AmericanThinker

“Last  week’s shooting  at the headquarters of the Family Research Council (FRC) has placed the Southern  Poverty Law Center (SPLC) back into the news.  The SPLC recently had placed  the FRC on its list of hate groups because the SPLC claims that in its  opposition to gay marriage, the FRC defames gays and  lesbians.

It  should be noted that the not-for-profit SPLC ostensibly began its mission to  help those who had been victimized by civil rights violations by filing suits on  their behalf.  In recent years, the SPLC greatly expanded its  definition of civil rights and hate groups to the point where any organization  that opposes the left’s favored causes risks being labeled a hate group by the  SPLC.  It has also moved away from suing on behalf of the aggrieved to  raising awareness of the presence of “hate groups.”  Most of all, for the  last 35 years, it has become a real fundraising dynamo.”

  1. I am glad that Mr. Corkins was stopped, caught and will be prosecuted. Mr. Perkins, however, complaining about another group as spreading hate is an irony. Check out FRC’s website and press pieces — they use the same tactics as SPLC just aimed at different groups. And the connection to the President — weak, extremely weak. SPLC was in business long before Obama came onto the scene.

  2. Here is a question has ABC, CBS, NBC,CNN, PBS reported on this? Have they talked about the relationship of the shooter with the GLBT Community and the hate group ,The Southern Poverty Law Center?

  3. Maybe FRC should file a law suite against the Southern Poverty Law Center, in it bring out the point that groups like Southern Poverty Law Center, are given people a license and ideas to attack other people. That is what Southern Poverty Law Center does in their law suites.

  5. Coyote,

    Nope, no connection. 🙄

Well, except for the ones at the DOJ and DHS…

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/02/02/Emails-Expose-Southern-Policy-Law-Center-s-Collaboration-With-DOJ

“Judicial Watch (JW), a Washington D.C. based non-partisan educational foundation, released some two dozen pages of emails it obtained on Tuesday revealing connections between the Department of Justice Civil Rights and Tax divisions and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

According to JW, the e-mails reveal “questionable behavior by agency personnel while negotiating for Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) co-founder Morris Dees to appear as the featured speaker at a July 31, 2012, “Diversity Training Event.” Judicial Watch obtained the records pursuant to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) submitted to the DOJ on September 10, 2012:”

“JW says that they filed the request to see if any of SPLC’s branding of hate groups had an influence on government agencies. According to the emails SPLC’s diversity speech “was to be simulcast to everyone’s PC throughout the Department” which fulfilled DOJ supervisors’ “mandatory annual diversity training.” ”

You can read the E-mails here

There’s more here, and he’s know, since he’s been a target of the SPLC and has seen first hand the influence they have with this administration.

“The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in Montgomery, Alabama, has long been used by the federal government and the national press corps to paint conservative organizations as “extremists,” “anti-government,” “hate groups,” etc. No sooner would the SPLC issue some attack piece in their newsletter and police agencies all over the country would be issuing bulletins to their officers regurgitating what the SPLC had just spewed out. No private organization has this kind of connection to, and influence over, police agencies nationwide without collaboration with the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, D.C. Well, now, we have evidence that such a collaboration exists.”

“I wish I could say that the MIAC episode was the only such time this has happened, but that just isn’t true. I have had police officers and deputy sheriffs in several states personally show me memorandums that they had received from their respective police agencies depicting me and other notable conservatives with the same derogatory characteristics. These memos were once again issued to local police departments and sheriff’s offices via DHS-DOJ Fusion Centers. And those memos were almost word-for-word the same kind of character-assassination that appeared in SPLC publications. Now we know why, don’t we?

So, will the national and even local media now stop using the SPLC as a credible source for identifying so-called “hate” groups? Don’t count on it. The national press corps is mostly in bed with big-government zealots in Washington, D.C., and will do everything they can to smear and besmirch limited-government conservatives. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this matches the definition of the word “conspiracy.””

Pastor Baldwin has taken the time to assemble a list of these “warning” from the DOJ and DHS. The SPLC isn’t the only group doing this, but their name comes up in alot of the links there.

There you find a list with links like this.

    http://www.infowars.com/miac-report-supporter-and-missouri-gov-nixon-to-sit-on-obamas-council-of-governors/

“An FOIA request filed by Americans for Limited Government attempted to find out where the Department of Homeland Security received the information for its report. “Our worst fears about what went into this memo have been confirmed. The government department that was supposed to be tasked with identifying domestic terrorist threats is apparently using news stories, kooky websites, and conjecture instead of actual hard intelligence reporting and analysis… This is a disgrace, and calls into question what it is that the so-called ‘Extremism and Radicalizaton Branch of the Homeland Environment Threat Analysis Division’ actually does,” wrote the organization’s president.

These questionable sources include the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti Defamation League.”

    Here’s more,

    http://www.conservativecrusader.com/articles/is-the-southern-poverty-law-center-terrorizing-decent-american-patriots

“The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is very influential in the current administration, almost single handedly responsible for defining “domestic terrorists” for the Department of Homeland Security and ratcheting up the racial rhetoric like never before in U.S. history, in the name of so-called “social justice.”

In the latest diatribe to come out of the Montgomery Alabama based mini-ACLU, titled – Rage on the Right – The Year in Hate and Extremism – the group lays out their justification for striking fear in the hearts of every Tea Party, 912 and town hall activist, angry over the federal governments mishandling of their country.”

There’s also plenty more links on SPLC at this one.

And no, still no violence from the Tea Party people. We can’t say the same for the SPLC followers like Corkins, now can we?

  7. Roy,
So much for arguing for freedom of expression.

The Southern Poverty Law Center do not believe in freedom of expression nor does the GLBT Community… They have label Christian as bigots because we are standing up to the GLBT Community and saying no to them. They have a desire to out law the Christian Church.

  8. We didn’t invent the whole “hate speech” BS that the left is constantly using to smear innocent people every time some nut comments a crime. But If Sarah Palin is responsible for the shooting of Gabby Gifford and if the Pro-life movement is responsible for the shooting of Dr. Tiller and if Rush Limbaugh is responsible for pretty much every other crime committed in the last 30 years than turnabout’s fair play. Though personally I think we need to stick with the whole personal responsibly thing.

You make these broad sweeping statements that are no better than asserting what all Christians or all of any group believe or would do. I can tell you that I know alot of people in the LGBT community who do not have any desire whatsoever to outlaw evangelical churches.
