Open Thread, I’ll start it off.

Budget? BUDGET!? We don’ need no stinkin’ budget.

Just following the example set by Senate Dems I guess.

From BuzzFeed

“White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Monday that he had no updates on when President Barack Obama will release his budget for the next fiscal year.

“I don’t have an update on the President’s budget,” Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One as the president travels to Minneapolis to discuss his gun control proposals when asked when Obama will submit his spending plan to Congress. The deadline for submitting his budget for fiscal year 2014 is Monday, February 4, 2013 under the Budget and Accounting Act of 1921.

Republicans have blasted Obama for missing the deadline — his third consecutive miss and the most of any president since the act was passed, according to data from the House Budget Committee.

But I guess we should be somewhat thankful, especially when you consider the lawbreakers and tax cheats running the Treasury. Looks like Geithner just found a perfect sidekick. And yet another example of the Obama admin ignoring budget requirements and laws.

From TheWashingtonTimes

“Senate Republicans are sending a letter Monday to the White  House budget office arguing that President  Obama’s nominee to be treasury secretary, Jacob “Jack” Lew, was complicit in breaking a Medicare budget law.

The letter  comes the same day that Mr. Obama officially missed another deadline in the  budget law by failing to submit his blueprint on the first Monday in February.  The president has only met that deadline once in his  tenure.

On the Medicare  funding issue, federal law requires that if the program’s funding becomes  imbalanced, its trustees are required to issue a warning, and the president is  required to send Congress a plan to repair the  finances.”

This last one? Well, let me just say this………

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

From ZeroHedge

[ZH: We have discussed this threat over the past several years (must read).] The obvious concept is that when the government runs out of money, or they face a drying up in interest for its debt, they will come for the $19.4 trillion in American’s retirement accounts.  It seems that day may be finally drawing near.”

“I’m sure the government is just trying to protect your retirement account from terrorists.

From Bloomberg:

The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is weighing whether it should take on a role in helping Americans manage the $19.4 trillion they have put into retirement savings, a move that would be the agency’s first foray into consumer investments.

That’s one of the things we’ve been exploring and are interested in in terms of whether and what authority we have,” bureau director Richard Cordray said in an interview. He didn’t provide additional details.”

  1. That is probably a wise decision on the part of your husband kbells1. The days are coming when the Government will force 401k’s to be invested in Government Bonds rather than sound investments.

“DAVID HOROWITZ: HOW REPUBLICANS CAN WIN”

    http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2013/02/david-horowitz-how-republicans-can-win.php

One of my takes on this is Republicans need to talk about Democratic policies in not so polite ways i.e. tell the truth.

I will now beat a dead horse. I have thought for years that Democratic policies about requiring an employer to provide health care for their workers was stupid, counter-productive and wrong. We went to our favorite taco stand, Pepe’s. The owners were often there, so was the cook, the cook’s helper, and usually 2 women/girls to wait on customers at the window. If I had been an owner, I would have wanted to pay for the head cook’s health care. That is an employee that would very hard to replace. I would have paid him $15 or $20 an hour. He was worth it. The rest of the help wouldn’t get health care. I couldn’t afford it.

The end result of the ObamaCare laws, rules and regulations is that those counter help will get less than 30 hours a week. The Democrats policies have doomed practically everyone working at all fast food stands, almost the entire WalMart work force, most workers in malls and shops across the US and almost everyone who works in a store an iron-clad upper limit of less than 30 hours of work a week.

The least expensive medical plans under ObamaCare will cost at least $20,000 a year for a family of 4. Many people in America feel lucky to make $20,000 dollars a year. They can’t work less than 30 hours a week and still make that $20,000 a year. People don’t expect that their employer will pay more for health care than they get paid in take home pay. Under ObamaCare their employer will have to double their employee costs. Employers can’t do that. Period!

Democrats are stupid! People will not get 30 hours a week at work. This is an obvious result of requiring health coverage for those who get 30 hours or more a week. Democrats are Evil! People can’t make a living on less than 30 hours a week. Democrats are not for the “little people”. Their governmental policies make people poor, and keep people poor.

Republicans have to point this out. We can’t win unless we start pointing these things out.

PS I can hardly wait for HRW to point out how I am all wrong.

  3. This is real scary. An enemy is someone they define as such.
    That’s the way dictators work.

    By Michael Isikoff
    National Investigative Correspondent, NBC News
A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force” — even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.

  4. A couple of thoughts: 1. Is what Russia is doing really different than what cities and states of the US would have done 50 years ago if faced with Gay Pride parades, etc. 2. The US church and government went soft on divorce and we are swamped with divorces. The US church went soft on illegitimacy and the government promoted it and almost half of our babies are illegitimate. Now the church has gone soft on homosexuality and the government is promoting it and homosexuality is spreading. Maybe we should stop to consider if our church and our government has gone horribly wrong.

  5. I guess my concern is how far do you go in passing laws against the GLBT Community? Standing up for marriage is one thing, the danager is passing a law out lawing the GLBT Community is another.

  6. Chas and Mumsee, I disagree with conservative criticism of Obama’s use of drone strikes – even to kill Americans in Al Qaeda. We can treat this as a criminal matter as Clinton did pre 9/11 or we can realize it is a war. Once you have determined it is a war, you can kill your enemies as Obama has done with some success. If Roosevelt had been able to kill Hitler in 1943 along with an American Nazi, he would have done it in a minute. As dumb as they are, the American people understand this issue and they support Obama.

  7. Pastor Roy, The law bans the promotion of homosexuality to minors. I know this is a major function of American popular culture and American public education, but do we really want to protect the promotion of homosexuality to minors?
