Rant: Due to American inclement weather the price of fresh produce doubled and quality took a nose dive. American esp California get it together, Canadians expect cheap fresh produce all year.
🙂 Still raining. Thinking of taking the dogs to the dog beach, I love being on the beach on days like this. And it’s not raining hard, just medium to light, off-and-on, but very overcast.
😦 I don’t even know what to say. I’m just having a hard time lately, with lots of little stresses building up to feel like big stress. Trying to find my place of peace & contentment, but having trouble.
Thanks, 6 Arrows. I saw your prayer request & prayed for you. Try to take good care of yourself, even if that means letting a few things slide for a bit.
Stress can really do a number on us. I’ve been under a lot of stress lately, too — and feeling generally just adrift or something. 😦 And it’s the worst when you wake up in the middle of the night.
Part of it for me is the time of year, I think. I love November & December, but have never been fond of Jan-Feb. And the anniversary of my mom’s death was yesterday — 23 years ago now, but how can that be? I don’t often notice the date after all these years, but yesterday I did.
😦 Major clog in the kitchen sink. Took some work with the old-fashioned plunger and (don’t shoot me, natural-remedy people) Liquid Plumber, but I think it’s all clear.
😦 Kitchen had taken a hit this week, so I’m finally getting it back in order. Still have to make a casserole tonight for church — and I haven’t even done the shopping for that yet.
On a good note, thanks to the real’s encouraging progress, my eating is back on track and the blood pressure is back where it should be. And the blood test to make sure the meds were not destroying my liver came back good.
🙂 Finally found a part I needed to make some crafts for which I’d bought a lot of stuff. (I’d bought a couple things in Nashville and didn’t want to rebuy them, but I couldn’t “do it” without one of those pieces, and hadn’t found it yet.)
🙂 Between finding that piece and buying some other stuff, I pulled out my card stuff and made several more pretty cards.
🙂 I’m staying on track with daily Scripture reading, exercise, and tidying (mostly unpacking the last few boxes, the stuff that’s hardest to fit). That’s on top of “normal” stuff like cooking, laundry, etc.
🙂 A medical visit earlier this week that told me I didn’t have what I thought I did. Apparently just a muscle pulled a bit from a new exercise routine.
😦 This doctor is going to think I’m a total crank, since I’ve gone to him twice so far, and both times I didn’t have what I thought I had. Of course, in my defense, both times I went to him I had received prior diagnoses for what seemed to be the presenting problem. . . .
🙂 😦 My husband and I have both been diligent this week with stuff we haven’t necessarily liked.
🙂 I’ve made very good progress working on my kids’ books.
😦 I’m more than ready for a pleasant, paying editing job, though. Januarys are long and boring, job-wise.
Mumsee: I actually have my own recurve bow – it’s bitten me as well – guess my elbows just stick out too far 🙂 These bows were neat because it didn’t matter your draw length – a 6 foot tall man could shoot the same bow as an 8 year old child – the pull was steady the whole length of the draw.
I find compound bows unsettling with the change in tension. But archery is fun and I do enjoy my recurve. Don’t use it very often. The children, however, all have compounds for hunting. I am more of a straw bale archerer.
Do you use an arm guard? Maybe you just need to pull it up a bit. The string should slide right over it rather than twanging your arm and bruising you. That hurts, I know.
One of the instructors suggested not locking my arm (I’m sort of double jointed) and they also showed us how to turn our elbows once you had drawn but I’m to klutzy for that and went with the stiff but not locked elbow – worked fine – scored 36!
I’m also a hay bale/target shooter – no hunting for me. My husband has a 70lb bow – I can’t even begin to pull it. These bows, cranked down were around 10lb with no change in tension throughout the pull. Full tension was about 30lb, also with no change in tension – which is what makes these bows unique and great for school, clubs and ministry.
That sounds like a good bow. I pull between thirty five and forty comfortably but need to get out more. I was going to suggest not locking the elbow, mine will get in the way if it is locked. I probably do the little twist thing, too, because I have hit myself before.
🙂 Catching up tonight on my not-so-daily Bible reading. 😦 Arrg. Told ya it was a challenge every year, but I’m trying not to give up!
🙂 Sundays and weekends in which we can catch up on all kinds of things.
🙂 My kitchen is back in order, yay. The last of the casserole pots and pans & mixing bowls from last night are now rinsed and stacked in the dishwasher. Stove top scrubbed, countertops cleared. (Well, one more small section of the countertop to go.)
very proud of you. You know, you can just take the pipes apart and clean them without using deadly chemicals that are going to cause global warming, cancer, and usher in the coming ice age.
🙂 The winter storm we had turned out to me a minor inconvenience.
Schools closed. Some cars slid off the road.
That’s all.
