Do they hate to say “I told you so” as much as I do?

Well, we did.

From RealClearMarkets

“As the Affordable Care Act–otherwise known as ObamaCare–begins to be implemented, we are seeing its first big consequence: it is making care less affordable.

The New York Times reports that “Health insurance companies across the country are seeking and winning double-digit increases in premiums for some customers, even though one of the biggest objectives of the Obama administration’s health care law was to stem the rapid rise in insurance costs for consumers.”

“Even though”? In fact, Obamacare is simply doing what a lot of people predicted it would. Critics of ObamaCare warned that it would produce precisely the kind of premium increases we are now seeing, for precisely the reasons that new reports are now citing.

I was one of those critics, and I take no joy in pointing out that we told you so.”

Don’t worry, it’s not all bad today. 🙂

And yes, that was only slightly tongue-in-cheek. 😯

Here’s a good story about a real American hero.

From HotAir

“This is a season when we cover far, far too many depressing tales of politics and Washington power. As we roll through the end of the NFL playoffs, what say we take a moment to lend our thoughts to something nicer? There was a birthday party this weekend in New Jersey, and it was honoring somebody who truly has earned the right to blow out as many candles as he can manage here in the good old U.S of A.  Meet Nicholas Oresko, 96 years young.

A true American hero is celebrating a milestone right here in New Jersey.

The country’s oldest Medal of Honor recipient is celebrating his 96th birthday at his retirement home in Cresskill.

World War II veteran Nick Oresko received his medal from President Harry Truman on October 30, 1945.”

And this one’s a good story too. It’s not the brother vs. brother Super Bowl match-up I wanted, but it’s still pretty cool.

From YahooSports

“When Jim and John Harbaugh coached against each other last season, it was the first time in NFL history that two brothers faced off as head coaches. And a lot of media attention was given to that storyline.

Jim and John Harbaugh will coach against each other once again in the Super Bowl after San Francisco beat Atlanta and Baltimore beat New England in the NFL conference championship games. And if you thought the Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh story was given a lot of ink for a regular season game last season, just wait for this two-week lead up to the Super Bowl.

Baltimore, led by John Harbaugh, beat New England 28-13 in the AFC Championship Game. Jim Harbaugh led the 49ers to a 28-24 win over Atlanta in the NFC title game earlier in the day.”

  1. Four examples:
    1. Russia has a flat tax with a rate of 13%.
    2. Russia punished the women rockers who disrupted a worship service with an obscene song.
    3. Russia prohibits the promotion of homosexuality to minors.
    4. Russia does not support the replacement of old Arab governments with new Al Qaeda-friendly ones.

  2. I feel more like this passage is coming true today

1 The burden[a] which the prophet Habakkuk saw.

    The Prophet’s Question
2 O Lord, how long shall I cry,
    And You will not hear?
Even cry out to You, “Violence!”
    And You will not save.
3 Why do You show me iniquity,
And cause me to see trouble?
    For plundering and violence are before me;
There is strife, and contention arises.
4 Therefore the law is powerless,
    And justice never goes forth.
    For the wicked surround the righteous;
    Therefore perverse judgment proceeds.

  3. From the inauguration invocation: “One nation…indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” Once again, the words “under God” are left out.

  4. Lupe Fiasco: Imagine, a black American Muslim rapper who does not like Obama and did not vote for him and was invited to perform at an inaugaural function. And was kicked off the stage.

  5. Together, we determined that a modern economy requires railroads and highways to speed travel and commerce; schools and colleges to train our workers.

Together, we discovered that a free market only thrives when there are rules to ensure competition and fair play.

Together, we resolved that a great nation must care for the vulnerable, and protect its people from life’s worst hazards and misfortune.

This sound good but what it means is Union Jobs and bigger GOvernment and lest freedom.

  6. 1. But we have always understood that when times change, so must we; that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action.

This idea fits perfect in the vision for China, Cuba, Stalin Russia where the collective actions means government control over people lives. this seem to be Mr. Obama theme thur out his speech.

  7. Mr. Obama has now made his view clear between the conflict that is between the GLBT Community and the Christian Faith

“It is now our generation’s task to carry on what those pioneers began. For our journey is not complete until our wives, our mothers, and daughters can earn a living equal to their efforts. Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well. ”

How then can any Christian support such a man.

  8. It was a side tent of the circus. Some say the folk were booing, others say they were cheering. He was told to change to a different song, but refused. Of course, he played the same song for half an hour. Why would anybody in their right mind select an anti Obama guy to perform at his inaugauration events? I mean, besides the fact that he is black and Muslim. Seems they might want to listen to his politics before prejudging him as being black and Muslim and therefore pro Obama.

  9. AJ, You are being hard on the Obama folks. The rapper was funny. It’s not like he made a statement in support of orthodox Christianity like Louis Giglio did 15 years ago.

Wait til you see some of tomorrows. That’s gonna be a little rough on Obama too.

The rapper could be considered funny, in an eye rolling way, but he was awful.

And the part that I find most amusing is that a statement from 15 years ago gets you disinvited, but this guy got around the censors with much more recent remarks to look at. Again though, only eye rolling, head in palm mumbling can you believe these clowns kinda way. Dark humor you could call it for sure.

  11. Wait, you are a Christian so it must have been.

We have been laughing over a Leonard Pitts commentary about how being black is not about skin color. If it was, he would be black but since he is a Republican who did not vote for Obama and likes to read, he is not.

  12. No.

Although I have been told that there are several new “code for racism” words that are used, and I may not yet be up to date on all of ’em, so maybe it was and I just don’t know it yet. It’s all so confusing.

  14. Pastor Roy understands well the malevolence of the Obama administration in that it worships the human idol of government as opposed to the eternal value of God. Men, of course, always find a way to worship themselves , especially what they regard as their wonderful governments. When Obama refers to “We the People,” as he repeatedly did today in his inaugural address, he means the GOVERNMENT, that at present has become a rather bestial and bloated entity that sucks the marrow from real virtue that comes only from eternal standards that Pastor Roy wisely calls to our attention.

  15. Thanks, Donna. Justice Scalia most certainly wore the proper chapeau for that dismal occasion. Hats off to that brilliant and courageous justice.
