  1. We’ve had some tough times this year, but God has sustained us, & brought us through.

I am grateful, very grateful, for my little family – my loving & hard-working husband, Lee, our lovely & sweet daughters, Emily & Christina, our wonderful grandson, Forrest, our two dogs, Heidi & Kane, & our three kitties, Peanut, Angel, & Rudy.

Sometimes things get kinda crazy around our home, but it’s a good crazy, with a lot of love & laughter.

Two things would make this perfect. One, the lesser of the two, would be to have more room for us all, & the other, the much more important one, would be for Emily to surrender her life to Jesus.

In the meantime, we are trusting God, Who knows all that we need, & He even gives us our “wants” sometimes.

“Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]—

“To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).”
    (Ephesians 3:20-21, Amplified Version)

May God abundantly bless you all in 2013!

  2. Heavenly Father,

As another year draws to a close, I thank and praise you for your abundant blessings and tender mercies you bestow on your people. You are the same yesterday, today and forever, and in your great love for us gave your one and only son, our Rock and our Redeemer. In times of turbulence and times of joy, you are there. You are our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms, supporting us and granting peace through Jesus Christ our Savior. How unsearchable are your riches!

Be with us, faithfully guiding us by your Spirit, as we journey forth into another year. Bless our loved ones, and draw us all ever closer to you, Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

  3. I just found out that neighbors from Nashville (a couple I used to take walks with several times a week) got an unexpected diagnosis of terminal cancer for the wife. They are self-employed and run their business together, so I am not sure how he will manage without her. I know this is a stunning blow to him. She is at peace about it, in little pain, but in the hospital.

  4. I’ve decided to make 2013 a year of praying for harmony among the people of my country who have differing views. I will pray for civil discourse to return to the public arena, that the country’s divisions be healed and we find our moral compass again.

To that end, I’m making these verses my focus:

    Psalm 133:1
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! (NIV)

    2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (NIV)

  5. My dear friend, Marlene, lost her much-beloved mother this past June. Marlene loved & treasured her mother more than anyone I’ve ever known, & has been having an especially difficult time, being quite depressed.

Now comes word that one of her sisters, Karen, has terminal leukemia. Marlene feels she just can’t handle losing another loved one. She does know the Lord, & knows He’ll see her through, but is dreading losing Karen nonetheless.

Please pray for her, & for Karen.

(Note: The leukemia isn’t the biggest problem. Her heart is only working at 50% “power”, & the doctors can’t find a way to successfully treat it. Her health & strength have been going downhill for a while.)
