  1. 1. The rampant spread of homosexuality and illegitimacy in the US.
    2. The looming bankruptcy of the US and much of Western Europe.
    3. The strong economic growth of India, China and other developing countries.

  2. Story of the year, sadly, was the re-election of the president. 😦 And yes, I’m still in a bit of a state of shock over that one. 😉

    But our God reigns, there is a purpose for everything under heaven. The world has seen worse than this.

    May the church be (more) faithful in what God calls her to be as we press on toward the goal of making Christ known and in glorifying Him in all the earth.

  3. I’m with MIM. I won’t quit completely, but I turn the TV off or switch channels when Obama comes on. Seriously, I could get an ulcer. I’m getting an unChristian attitude. None of this is good for me. He has an agenda and it isn’t good for America.

    Remember: God has everything under control.
    Whether or not it looks like it. He has it under control.

  4. Durn. I broke my resolution not to read the news…

    I just read this a while ago:

    “The parties were at an impasse over whether to put off the automatic, across-the-board spending cuts set to take effect at the beginning of the year and if so, how to pay for that.”

    Seriously? How do you “pay” for a spending cut? Are you guys out of your minds? We’re governed by fools who are written about by idiots.

  5. Cable ‘news’ should come with a warning label: “this product is hazardous to your mental health”. I’m listening to c-span right now. Same difficult issues, but without the zippy music, annoying commentary and cleavage, it’s not nearly as depressing.

  6. I don’t doubt Obama’s re-election was important but I don’t think its long-term impact is nearly as important as many people seem to think. He’s far more moderate than cable news makes him out to be. And quite frankly I don’t think its as important as the following;

    Recognition of Palestine’s statehood and the continuing civil war in Syria are two foreign news stories that will have a long term impact. The almost two year long Syrian civil war should rank as the most important foreign news event.

    Hurricane Sandy was an important news story.

    The shooting of Trayvon Martin and the mass killings in Sandy Hook and Aurora together kept American gun laws in the news.

    In India the gang rape of woman on a public bus sparked mass outrage and demonstrations and maybe the spark for massive social change in the way women are treated in India.

    And for those interested in Canada;

    The continuing robo-call scandal haunted the current Conservative gov’t throughout 2012 and will probably continue to be a top news story.

    Similarly the birth of a new native/aboriginal movement has already led to demonstrations, hunger strikes, and blockades — a news story which will probably continue in 2013.

    Other news stories: the Olympics, SOPA, Penn State, Pussy Riot. Other people in the news for good or bad; Whitney Houston, Kate Middleton, Amanda Todd, Honey Boo-boo, Jeremy Lin, Lance Armstrong, Joseph Kony,
