  1. 🙂 We had a really nice Christmas.
🙂 I’m not driving up from Myrtle Beach.
😦 Snow in the forecast for Hendersonville. 30% snow, I hope the 70% works out.

  2. We were getting ready to go to Chuck’s for Christmas. As I said before, Elvera and I decided not to get each other presents this year. As we were preparing to go, I said, “Now I don’t have anything for you.” She said, “Maybe we can just go somewhere.” So, we decided that rather than return home from Chucks, we would go to Myrtle Beach.
So we left Wednesday morning in a rainstorm. It rained the 5.5 hours driving to MB. It rained as we were unloading the car. It was about 1:00 p.m. and not only did the rain stop, but the clouds went away. So, we went up to Broadway at the Beach and walked around, but didn’t buy anything. But while we were there, we decided to attend a show that evening at the Palace Theater which is on the premises.
So, we went over and bought tickets to “Christmas on Ice”, a great show.
Thursday was forecast to be the nicest day, so we went out to Brookgreen Gardens and spent five hours there. On the way back, we stopped at a mall for about an hour and decided that instead of going back to our room, we would go to the Carolina Opry. They also had a Christmas show. More overtly Christian in scope than the Ice Show. Friday morning, about 2 a.m. Elvera, while making a nighttime potty trip, reasoned with herself: “We’ve done everything we planned to do. All we can do now is shop. Charlie will spend the day sitting in food courts waiting for me. So, maybe we should go home.”
She suggested to me Friday morning, that instead of staying and returning on Saturday, as planned, we could leave now, and stop in the malls in Columbia and Spartanburg.” I jumped on the idea.
    So here we are.

    😆

I am not on the way home from MB. You can’t understand how happy that makes me.

  3. And Elvera got to visit the malls in both Columbia and Spartanburg because we weren’t in a hurry. She bought something both places.
I paid $2.85 for gas at Sams in Spartanburg. It was $3.05 at MB.

  4. 🙂 Many people heard the gospel this Christmas!
🙂 God is shaking me up and forcing some growth that has long been necessary.
🙂 My family is well and happy.
🙂 I have wonderful friends and family who love me in spite of myself.
🙂 Got to pray with a Gambian friend for her sick daughter. Now watching to see what God does.
    🙂 No rants!

  5. 🙂 Spending three days with my sister while she’s home from Africa

🙂 Enjoying special time with my girls while they’re on Christmas break

🙂 Seeing my husband more than usual as things are slow at work this time of year (they always are–not a cause for worry).

🙂 Recognizing how truly blessed I am, all because of God’s mercy and provision.

🙂 Seeing the bonds between cousins on my side of the family. They treat each other with such love and genuinely enjoy each other’s company.

😦 I’ve been having more frequent migraines, that are not responding to Triptans. Had to miss celebration on the 26th with husband’s family due to a severe one. Frustrating.

😦 Family members and a dear friend who are not saved.

😦 Mother’s alcoholism has progressed to the point that oldest daughter noticed she was “wasted” a couple of times on most recent visit. Addiction in a loved one is devastating.

🙂 My family. I have been blessed with an extremely supportive husband. While we have had our share of difficulties, we are in such a good place as we approach our 14th anniversary. And I have the two most delightful daughters imaginable! I know every mom thinks her kids are special, but I can’t help believing mine truly are!!! Not that they are any better than your kids–just that they are the perfect children for me. I am so glad I have the honor of being their mom. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by joy and gratitude that God gave me the desires of my heart in my family. I always wanted to have a daughter and God gave me two! I always wanted to be married (from about age 5) and God provided an honorable man. I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom and God also made that possible. I have been blessed beyond measure. My heart is full. “Every good and perfect gift comes from above.”

  6. 🙂 Reading the lovely raves on this page. So many testimonies of God’s goodness.

🙂 Having the Word of God in my language.

    🙂 Being blessed with a hard-working husband.

🙂 A new year just ahead. I love new. New years. New babies. (Don’t read anything into that comment now.) 😉 God’s mercies new every morning. Each new blessing an opportunity for a fresh start.

  7. :)Spending Christmas with my children and husband.

😦 For the first time in 28 years of marriage, we didn’t make it to my home in Calgary for Christmas with my family.

🙂 Did get to talk to everyone on the phone and wish them a merry Christmas.

🙂 That my folks understood why we couldn’t come even though we were all sad about it.

🙂 Looking forward to a wedding some day – and seeing my son so very happy.

  8. 🙂 Christmas. Good times this year with friends & extended family.

😦 Too much food. 🙂 But it was good. It was very good.

😦 Continued struggles with low morale and some rather widespread discouragement at work.

🙂 Grateful I still have a job that I (mostly) love — but in an industry that has been rocked to its core over the past 10 years with no economic stability in sight.

🙂 A new year. Always a time filled with such promise. And resolutions. Again. We keep on keeping on. 🙂

🙂 God remains sovereign over His creation, fiscal cliff and whatever else befalls us. And with the dawn of 2013, the world is yet another year closer to Jesus’ return, amen?

  9. 🙂 Someone is interested in our house! After six months and one viewing, we got a call today! Of course, the contract with the realtor expired Thursday. I spoke to her and she said “Good luck!” There is no legal binding with her now, so we signed a temporary contract with the realtor who called this morning.

  10. That’s great Peter. The housing market out here — finally — is picking up after what has been a really long season (stretching out into years) of nothing but plummeting home values, foreclosures and short sales.
