😦 Do you get weird e-mails? Every day I have to clean out my spam folder a couple of times. I get mail from “Approval Department”, and “Meet singles in your area”, “Meet Asian Singles” and like stuff. I am also warned that there is something amiss in my “Playpal account”. There really is. I don’t have a Playpal account.
🙂 😦 I have a 70 something year old aunt who has discovered Words With Friends on Facebook. She constantly runs the score up and beats me. It is nothing for her to score 60 or more points on a word. Rant because she beats me. Rave because she isn’t showing signs of dementia like my grandmother.
🙂 Finally got three books loaded on the Paperwhite Kindle.
🙂 Son is settling in being at home and away from college friends.
😦 Son missed trip with friends because of grad school app deadlines.
🙂 Christmas cards all sent out, although late.
😦 Not receiving as many Christmas cards because I sent my cards out late.
🙂 Christmas. Ready or not, what’s done is done, what isn’t, isn’t.
🙂 A good friend is coming over today; we’ll have lots to catch up on, tool around seeing stuff (USS Iowa, etc. — I even landed a discounted admission deal for us on Groupon) — and then we’ll go out to eat, maybe drive around looking at the lights. Haven’t seen her since summer.
😦 Things can get crazy in the last few days before the holiday, even for those of us without big families to tend to.
🙂 Seeing the cousins late on Christmas Day, seeing friends earlier in the day.
😦 The only downside is the after-Christmas letdown I seem to always get. I really don’t like new year’s very much and find January-February somewhat dreary, starting with the de-decorating process (ugh).
And then anticipating things like getting the paperwork all together to get the taxes done, paying property taxes-car registration-homeowners insurance all in the same month (ouch), etc., etc., etc.
And no more holidays for such a long, long time.
But spring is nice. I usually start to snap out of my funk by then. 🙂
🙂 Both my children are on their way home.
🙂 The house is ready and waiting – as am I.
🙂 Hubby is finishing the plumbing to the master bath right now – should be fully down by tonight!! Just in time for Christmas!
😦 Emily was quite sick this week, so even on “our” days off, I was still helping a lot with Forrest, & helping take care of her. Next came 3 long work days for her, which translates into even longer babysitting days for me (10 hours). Forrest got sick yesterday, & now I feel lousy. Tomorrow she’s off, but then another long day on Monday.
I am so exhausted! (And I’m behind on reading this blog & Facebook.)
🙂 She has Christmas Day & the day after off, followed by shorter work hours.
🙂 Forrest has been pretty easy to care for while he’s been sick. He’s wanted to cuddle with me & have me read to him quite a bit.
🙂 I finally got to make two favorite family recipes for my new family for the first time: our sugar cookies and a curry recipe that’s quite complicated.
😦 It looks like it may be a less-than-merry Christmas for me. One of the girls came home from school quite sick, and I seem to be getting it. It’s starting really slowly; this is my third day of wondering “Am I getting sick?” and in my experience the ones that start slowly are the ones that dig in and are really bad. I only get sick like that every couple of years, but right at Christmas is not really very good timing! (I do have an essential oil I plan to use to gargle with; I did that once before when I thought I might be getting sick, and I didn’t get sick. This time it’s past “thinking”; my symptoms are still mild, but clear.)

🙂 I’m grateful the last store I needed to visit was open at 9 this morning, so I could park in front and get out.
🙂 Successful cookie party last night with some 20 college juniors bouncing off the walls, decorating cookies and talking, talking, talking.
🙂 Father-daughter outing right now to look at a car for my daughter. I’m just glad I’m not going!
🙂 Adorable grandchildren babysitting tonight!
😦 Seventeen years since I signed paperwork to terminate my mother’s life.
😦 I miss her.
