  1. I need prayer for strength – emotional as well as physical – for babysitting my rambunctious grandtoddler (borrowing Michelle’s word) through this Christmas season.

Emily doesn’t work full-time, but her job is in retail, so for this month she’s working lots of extra hours – some starting earlier than normal, some going later than normal. (She didn’t get home until 11:15 Sat. night.)

Yesterday was the 6th of 6 days in a row. I get today off, but then have a couple early & longer days Tues. & Wed., Fri. & Sat. With weaning off the anti-depressant, I am not feeling too well. (Not horrible, but mostly tired, with times of feeling worn out or emotionally raw.)

Thankful for my Chrissy, who is a big help with Forrest. And I am holding on tightly to Jesus, knowing that this all will pass, believing for emotional healing.

  2. Thank you, Chas & Michelle.

Something else that occurred to me…Continue to pray for the people of Newtown in particular, & Connecticut in general. This morning, 2 schools were in lockdown due to a suspicious, possibly-armed man, at a train station.

And yesterday, the Catholic church in Newtown, which had held a prayer vigil for the victims, had to be evacuated during the noon mass due to some kind of threat.

  3. Prayed for you Karen, hang in there — and, yes, I can only imagine the Monday morning jitters as kids head back to school. When is their winter break there? L.A. schools are out starting today until well after New Year’s, so I was surprised to hear so many kids still in school this close to Christmas.

  4. I think school goes up to (but not including?) Christmas Eve, then starts again right after New Year’s (the day after, unless that’s a weekend day).

A friend said she saw a lot of parents, more than the usual, dropping their kids off at school today. A friend of hers couldn’t bring herself to send her kids to school.
