What should we pray about today?
Psalm 31:1-5
1 In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness.
2 Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.
3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
4 Keep me free from the trap that is set for me,
for you are my refuge.
5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;
deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.
Please pray for Mr P’s grandson, Silas. He is in the NICU. He isn’t taking as many breaths per minute as most newborns so they wanted to be careful and watch him. Other than that he is beautiful and healthy.

I’ll be praying, Kim. Our daughter, Becca, was born 5 weeks and 6 days premature. She was in the NICU for 14 looong days due to “transient tachypnea of the newborn.” Basically, rapid breathing of unknown origin. She had to be tube fed to keep her from aspirating milk into her lungs. It was a scary time. Thankfully, today she is a thriving seven year old.
I am headed home today with the girls. Scott will join me late Wednesday. Please keep me in your prayers as some in my family are quite difficult to get along with and two of my brothers are not speaking with each other. We will have 25 for dinner Thursday. I’d appreciate prayers for patience and wisdom. And that I would be able to remain loving despite difficult attitudes. Help me see my siblings as the broken, hurting people that they are and allow me to minister to them with compassion and gentleness. None of my brothers is a believer and I’d hate for any interaction I have with them to be a stumbling block. Thank you.

Prayers for my efforts to bring someone who may be alone on Thanksgiving into the modest plans another church friend or two and I are making for that day.
Also, I’m feeling unusually stressed lately — ongoing changes at work have caused a very depressing atmosphere to develop there (someone called it “toxic” the other day).
It’s affecting all of us to some degree, but maybe those of us who have been there the longest are feeling it the most.
There’s a lot of uncertainty & much disagreement and conflict among our editors of various ranks over the paper’s future direction. And the resulting confusion and pressure on all of us now is palpable. Tempers are short.
There just seems to be this growing sense of foreboding — that the bottom is about to fall out, which in turn is bringing some odd dreams and just an overall sense of uneasiness for me personally. 😦 😮
Through all of this I’m trying to keep/increase my focus on God — who, of course, is the only true security we ever have, even when things seem to be going so well in “good” times when we have no specific worries.

In the beginning there was nothing. Absolutely nothing. Can you imagine nothing at all? But, suddenly, out of this nothing, there was this Big Bang.
You have to be real smart to believe that.
My mind is too small to imagine the concept of absolutely nothing, especially one that explodes.
The lesson here is that you don’t mess around with nothing.

Sorry, I posted this on the wrong thread. I’m transferring it to Daily Thread. But I don’t know how to erase this.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for all the people who gather here daily to enjoy each others thoughts and share cares and burdens. It is the week of Thanksgiving so I say a special thanks this evening for AJ and how he put this all together. I pray that his request for help during his vacation time has been met by someone with the know how and time to do a good job with the political thread. With all that is going on in the world that can turn into the most active thread. Please bless AJ and his family as they travel and bless all the others here who are or will be traveling.
I pray for those here who have mentioned difficulty sleeping lately. Ease anxieties and give comfort from pain of any type that might interfere with sleep. Please give calm and pleasant dreams. I pray for those like Annms who will be visiting with relatives where tensions are running high because of disagreements or personality clashes and on-going competition. Please help the people to be able to be on their best behavior and if possible, Lord, I pray for a reconcilement between brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters and other relatives. Ease tensions over who will stay where and who will be responsible for what. I pray You will help people to not be so pushy and trying to get their own way. May Christian grace and charity be the highlight of the day along with hearts full of thanks for all You do.
Lord, You know what is causing Mr. P’s grandson, Silas, to have the breathing difficulty. Strengthen his system so that all is working properly in that wonderful baby’s body. Please comfort his mother and father if they feel anxious. May they both be able to get rest and recouperation knowing they can put their trust in You to care for Silas as they get needed rest. Thank You, Lord, for bringing Silas into this world where he can learn about You and learn to care for other people as You do. May he bond quickly with his mother and father and be able to nurse without any difficulty so he can get the best nourishment and immunity protection against illness. You have so well provided for babies. They are precious. What a special thing You have done to let Kim become a grandmommy so soon!
I lift up the believers in the Soviet areas who may come under forms of persecution for their Christian faith. I pray You will make ways for the spread of the gospel in those places that are actively engaged in wiping out Christianity. Please help all those in Israel who are under fire from Hamas. May the truth come out in the world news about the tactics of Hamas using human shields to take the retaliation for their hits on Israel. I pray President Obama will do the right thing by Israel and not just say the right thing that he thinks people want to hear while not following through on what he says.
Please help Donna and all in her office as they are suffering distress over the unknown changes that seem inevitable. I pray for fairness in any decisions that are to be made and that Donna can continue to be esteemed and treated as very important to the enterprise assuming it can continue to function. Lord, if this position should come to an end, I pray You will quickly make it clear to Donna what You want her to do. Release her from feelings of anxiety and give her Your peace that passes understanding. Please help her and her friends have a good Thanksgiving that manages to take their minds off of other situations around them that may be unpleasant to consider.
Thank You again, Lord, for hearing my prayers. You are awesome in the many ways You respond. I wait to see what You will do day after day. Please give us all peaceful rest this evening. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen
