Good morning.
Once again, the fine folks at Panera help us out with WiFi,and a hot meal.
Still no power. Day 5. I had to throw away the contents of our fridge and freezer.
😦
But all in all, we’re OK, just powerless, and a little chilly.
Thanks for all the prayers, and I’ll catch up with you all as soon as I can.
I miss you folks.
First? “Inconceivable!”
Anyway, it’s Friday, and this is what that means.

Re: yesterday’s (or this morning’s) discussion on non-union electricians being turned away from helping in the hurricane area: It’s New Jersey we’re talking about. Actually, anywhere in the Northeast has such strong unions that no one else can work. I have heard of traveling stage crews not getting to do their jobs because they were not union.

More on Bemghazi, the comments indicate some of us are still asking the right questions.

I appreciate CB’s giving an alternate opinion and reminding me not to see conspiracies where none may exist. I hope she is right.
Everything I read, however, brings up more questions and simply doesn’t make sense. Does it make sense to you that State and Steven’s personal papers would still be lying around seven weeks later and AFTER the FBI finally showed up to investigate?
Wouldn’t you wonder if they had been planted?
Gee, maybe I should have forgone a carrer in child rearing and stayed in journalism? 😦

According to this Washington Post article, the CIA “rushed to save diplomats as Libya attack was underway.”
But why did it take so long to tell us this?

Because when you’re covering for a lie you have to make sure everyone has the same story.

I think PeterL has the correct assessment. There’s no information in that Post story.

I’m tired of the fighting. All these candidate say they will fight for me in the state capitol or Washington. I don’t want them fighting, I want them working. Take off the boxing gloves and put on the work gloves. Don’t fight for it, FIX IT!!!

After talk around here lately about The Five Love Languages, I decided to look for that book, and found it today in our church library. Wow, great book so far. My primary love language is Words of Affirmation, with two others being very close. What I found most interesting so far, though, is figuring out what my husband’s love language probably is — Acts of Service — a language I admittedly haven’t done very well speaking to him. I’m getting excited to try out this new language, and hope to relieve more of his stress that way and build a better marriage.
Prayers are welcome on this new leg of the marriage journey.

So now I’m learning the wonders of WordPress blogging, following in the footsteps of our dear leader on this blog.
The paper has switched all their blogs over to the WP platform and we’re poking our way through it all, trying to re-learn how to post pics, etc., on the new format.
They put a generic banner photo on the pets blog, which is a very nice picture (there are sheep in it, after all). But it doesn’t really look anything like where we live. I think we may be able to tinker with some of that later.
And they lost a bunch of my more recent posts, so now there’s a gap between August and November. Oh well. I’m sure they weren’t all that earth-shaking.

Tell me what you think — I’m hoping there will be ways to better customize them later.

Good luck Donna.
WordPress can be a fickle little beast.
Whatever you do, don’t make eye contact. It will take that as a challenge.
And don’t feed it after midnight.
🙂
And speaking as someone who has sometimes struggled with the pic posting part of WordPress’ fickleness,
Good luck with that.
