  1. I haven’t been on much lately, but I do read and pray the prayer requests as much as possible. I would like to request prayer for a young man that is missing in our area. He has been in plays and school with one of my daughters and there are some other connections. He has not been heard from for a week now and, needless to say, his family and friends are quite frantic to find him. His name is Matt and he went missing in Bemidji, MN.

  2. Hubby’s friend David got the results back from his biopsy but says they are complicated and even his wife who is a nurse can’t make heads or tails of it. He will talk to the Doctor today to see what’s next.

  3. Lord, I join Kathaleena in asking for Matt. You know where he is. Please bring him out to his family and friends, who are in distress over his disappearance. Use this to draw them and him to You. Thank You. In the Name of Christ.

  4. Hey all.
I spoke to my Father Saturday evening. He seemed to be as coherent and ornery as usual. Mom was more rested and less frazzled. So I hope things are on the upswing.

Prayers for those who are in the path of the storm.

  5. We had an e-mail from Tom (he was my husband’s best friend where he use to work). His wife, Linda, is the one who had the second surgery for an intestinal blockage. She is not doing well. She had a period where her body shut down for around 20 minutes. They are trying to do dialysis. Then they will be evaluating her condition again. Please pray she can come back from this. We have seen here those who have been brought back from the brink like Darby. I also ask for prayer for my husband who has a cold. My son seems to be doing better from his cold. Thank you for your prayers.

  6. And I’ll ask for prayer again for our church deacon, Jeff, who continues treatment for a cancerous brain tumor.

He’s had surgery & completed the primary round of radiation/chemo. Yay. He will be undergoing more chemo (I believe this may be an experimental course of treatment) at ucla beginning on election day. This is a very serious form of brain cancer, the same one that took Sen. Ted Kennedy.

It’s rarely cured but the family is praying and hoping for healing, of course; but should healing not come, prayers for good management and an extended bit of quality time as they try to hold off complications and progression of the disease.

Still, please do pray for a complete healing.

Ironically, the doctors say Jeff, who is probably in his early 50s (three college-age children, all still active in the church), I’m not sure of his exact age, is in very good health otherwise. Go figure.

But he is home, he looks great, and he’s able to come to church each week (he and his wife also are in my home group). They’re an amazing family whose faith and courage has many of us in awe with all they’re going through.

Pray also for a full return of his communication skills which have been hindered since the surgery following his diagnosis last spring. There has been some good improvement with time, but he continues to struggle with speech and putting his thoughts into the right words.

Praying for all of you back east, stay safe.

  7. Oh, and this is cool — Jeff & his wife have booked a trip to Paris just after Thanksgiving, to celebrate the completion of the next round of treatment. They were there a few years ago and always planned to go back.

  8. David’s biopsy came back negative but they still think something is going on so they are doing more surgery to get more tissue for more tests.

  9. Heavenly Father,

The wind is strong here in the South today reminding us of the forces of nature which You control and take hold of as You so desire. You are omnipotent and we recognize You are the ultimate, in control, boss. Momentarily we see a glimpse of a catastrophe and we think “Where was God?” Forgive us if we think wrongly at those moments and think You were absent. We just lack understanding of situations from Your perspective. Knowing of Your great ability to control nature, we call upon You to lessen the effects of this tremendous storm known as Sandy. We know several forces are at work coming together in the area of the storm. You know all the forces. I pray that the force of one will be encountering the force of the other and they will cancel out some of the destructive ability. I don’t possess the brain power to hardly imagine what I am trying to express, Lord, but You know all the laws of nature and physics and the dynamics that You control. So I am asking for the benefit of the people in our nation that You would help us in the next hours and days to not be crushed as humanly predicted. Please keep deaths at a minimum for You are the Lord Who loves life. You are the creator of life. You say You want all to be saved, so Lord, save those lives that would perish without Your intervention. Please give them more time so they, too, can be saved for all of eternity. And please keep our Christian brothers and sisters safe from disasters that would cause them and their families major grief and heartache. I pray for the homes of those who are believers in Jesus to be especially watched over in this storm as a witness to the world that even though You care for all of Your creation, that You take particular care with those who honor the name of Jesus. Please, Lord, may power be restored as soon as possible to the current 500,000 who are at this time cut off from their supply. I pray also that one outcome from this storm will be a recognizing of Who is greater than the ones in our nation who would remove You from our motto of One Nation Under God. May many come to believe through this scary storm and its aftermath. In the name of Jesus, Amen

  10. Heavenly Father,

So many prayer needs have been mentioned on here today. I ask that You would work through these needs even at the same time as You are dealing with that tremendous storm, Sandy. May You allow Ki’s daughter’s friend, Matt, to be found safe in whatever situation he has been in. You do know his whereabouts. Let us hear soon the good news that he has been found. Please give his parents and other family and friends peace as they wait for the good news. I also pray for Kbell’s friend, David, that the needed surgery will not be complicated and that it can reveal all that is needed to determine the procedure/meds to correct his health problem. I also lift up Donna’s deacon and small group friend, Jeff, and his family for Your continuing blessing as he goes through his ordeal. May he learn new ways to enhance his communication, a way of compensating for what his brain is lacking in functioning as it did previously. May he generate new cells and discover new abilities through Your guidance and gifting. Thank You for his faithful family and the blessing of their endearing witness. Please let the Paris trip come together and be a most special time for Jeff and his wife. May they feel Your presence with them this day and every day forward. You have chosen them to go through this tribulation because of their special ways of showing Your love to the world. This affliction is a momentary highlight drawing attention to their family so people can see true Christianity in action. Thank You for that witness, Lord, and I ask that soon they can be out of the spotlight. May his healing come quickly, Lord, if it is Your will. I thank You, Lord, for the many who are praying alongside me in these requests and others that have been mentioned here. Again, thank You for AJ and his insight in putting up these lines of communication with each other and with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
