My oldest daughter has the stomach bug (again!). Please pray she feels better soon and that no one else gets it. Thanks.

annms, praying for your daughter. You don’t have any reptiles or turtles as pets do you? My sister was always sick when we were kids – turns out it was the turtle – gave her salmonella.

Heavenly Father,
May Your will be done this day. May we seek to know Your will through our daily reading of Your word which strengthens us in knowledge of Your great love for us and Your power to do more than we can think or imagine.
I lift up the missionaries who are working in The Gambia trying to reach souls who have had no way to know of Jesus. Please bless those missionaries today meeting their physical needs along with the need to feel they are effective in their spiritual outreach to the people they serve. Give them an effective presentation of the gospel in whatever method You know will reach the most people. Please help Phos as she struggles to communicate. Give her special methods of reaching out. Bless Ajisuun as she helps Phos. Please open up new sources of financial support for their ministry. Thank You for all Your answers to these prayers, large and small. Please add this prayer to others that will be spoken today on their behalf so that our requests become irresistible to You.
Lord, there are some who are afflicted that we are aware of. I lift up Annms daughter to You concerning the stomach ailment that has her down and her mom concerned over the recurring nature of this illness. I pray the cause will be discovered. Please ease any inflammation that may be keeping things stirred up. May a discovery be made that will settle and soothe her track so that it gets back to optimum health. May she not miss too much of her schoolwork and fall behind. Lord, You also know how my son is sick at college with this cold that has gone down into his chest. Please help him to get over it quickly. I ask that he not have a flare up with asthma because he has not suffered with that in a long time, and he may not think to use his inhaler when necessary because he is not now in the habit of thinking of using it. Lord, please help him to seek care if needed from campus health facilities before anything should get out of control. Lord, I don’t even know if the inhaler he has is past the expiration date. You know how a mother’s mind can go overboard on concerns. Ease our mother’s anxiety with the truth; our children are in Your hands and You seek to do good for them. You can do, again, more than we can think or imagine. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

Totally selfish prayer request…
Today was supposed to be a day off for Emily (& thus a day off for me from babysitting), but she got called in to work this evening, so I will be babysitting Forrest from 4:45 to 10:30. Please pray that he falls asleep early (by 8:00 would be great). Often these days, he doesn’t fall asleep when I’m watching him those hours, especially if he napped during the day. Thanks!

Heavenly Father, You made us and know that we need our rest, especially the young ones and the older ones. I pray that You would help Forrest this evening to be worn out by the day’s activities so he will just give into sleep. I pray the foods he takes in today will be ones that will be condusive to sleep. Turkey always does that for me. Lord, I remember the wired up times when my young son needed to sleep and yet it wasn’t in him to rest. The end of the day was the worst. I ask that today You would bless KarenO with a peaceful time in the evening with Forrest. Even if he can’t fall asleep, I ask that he would be settled and managable and a pure joy to be around. Thank You, Lord, for taking what seem to be our small concerns into Your heart of gracious giving. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen

There have been a lot of recalls lately of pet foods and treats due to salmonella contamination (making owners sick, not necessarily pets).
I’d never thought much about it, but they’re advising people now to always remember to wash their hands thoroughly EVERY time they handle any pet foods or treats (and I’m now following that advice).
