It seems Obama has a new campaign meme. He don’t need no stinkin’ binders!, or something.

“Obama said on Tuesday at campaign events in Iowa and Ohio, “I’ve got to tell you, we don’t have to collect a bunch of binders to find qualified, talented, driven young women, ready to learn and teach in these fields right now.”
Obama was referring to comments Mitt Romney made during the second presidential debate when Romney said he actively sought and recruited qualified women for high-level positions and in the recruiting process he would wind up with “binders full of women.””

Seems he’s using this meme at all his stops now. But if he doesn’t need binders, what’s he gonna do with the ones he already has? Like this one one he picked up in 2009.

The effort, driven by community leaders and others, including Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), was bumped up two weeks ahead of schedule because White House officials heard about the venture, said J. Saleh Williams, program coordinator for the Congressional Muslim Staffers Association who sifted through more than 300 names.”

According to a New York Post source, the channel has been bombarded with phone calls and blogs posts from ‘Muslim extremist groups’ warning that anyone airing a film like this is asking for trouble.”

“Weekly applications for U.S. unemployment benefits jumped 46,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 388,000, the highest in four months. The increase represents a rebound from the previous week’s sharp drop. Both swings were largely due to
technical factors.”
“Last week, California reported a large drop in applications, pushing down the overall figure to the lowest since February 2008.
This week, it reported a significant increase as it processed applications delayed from the previous week.”

As usual, ZeroHedge doesn’t buy it.
“So much for last week’s aberration initial claims print of 339K (revised higher of course to 342K). With expectations of an increase to 365K, the DOL just came out with a whopper of a miss, the largest in three months, at 388K, an increase of 46K in one week, which was also the highest print in three months. Remember: this number will be revised to 391K next week. So much for single print indicative of a recovery. As the chart below shows, the rate of change was a 13.45% from last week: the highest in five years! So far, there has been no explanation from the BLS or DOL for last week’s outlier print. And no, last week’s print was not due to California, which the DOL reported just decreased by 4,979 in the week ended Oct 6, not the required 49K. What is however worse, is that it is becoming increasingly clear that nobody at the DOL knows what is actually going on following a statement by the Labor Dept that “it appeared that state-level administrative issues were distorting the data“, and numbers are simply picked out of thin air.”

And I’ve already seen early reports from tonight’s dinner, headline; “Obama Embraced by Catholics. Romney Dines with Rich People.”

Catching up on the D’Sousa/World thing. What a farce. What gets me is that World, with its Presbyterian associations, doesn’t wait for the matter to be decided through a church court before posting its gossip column.

We voted this morning. We hit it lucky, it only took 30 minutes. As we were leaving, the line was three times as long as when we got there.

I think any close result will create more than a little angst in this volatile political climate. 😦
Either way, the election won’t be the end of any of the nation’s ramped-up rancor, I’m afraid. And it cold just make things worse, depending on the outcome.
I don’t like this early and lengthy/extended voting process we have now, to be honest. It opens more possibility to fraud. I would be more inclined to provide maybe 3 consecutive days to vote in November. Period.
So I think I’ll wait and vote on “election day” as usual.
And maybe I’ll even dig out my lucky winter scarf (a long, multi-colored/ethnic South American woolen number, with one “dog” hole chewed out of the middle that I still can pretty easily disguise with a creative wrapped knot or two).
I wore that scarf to the polls each time “w” was elected.
Similar to Romney, he wasn’t my perfect/ideal candidate (though I did line up personally quite well with most of his positions).
And like Romney, he was far better than the alternative, no?

Re; the comments about the four Americans that were slain. Obama made some comment at the gathering last night. I saw it, I’m sure that is something else wrote and everything was supposed to be light hearted. It’s unfortunate if someone took it seriously.
I think Obama should get a pass on that.
