  1. I am posting this here because I assume our friend, Random, doesn’t read this thread and I don’t want to start a “gay” conversation (isn’t it nice not to have one of those EVERY day like we did on WMB?). And it certainly can be a prayer request. There is a dear gay young man at work with whom I have a pretty close relationship. He’s never told me so, but I suspect he has Aids (or HIV? not sure what comes first). He’s had several serious medical problems, including being in a coma from pneumonia. He’s been out sick for the last three weeks and I’m not sure what’s up. So please, do pray for Kevin.

A thought I had this moring, though, was this. We Christians have talked about homosexuality many times and all agree that sin is sin and unrepentant sin is unrepentant sin, regardless of the variety. We all also agree that all sin is forgivable but that many times sins have consequences. I realized that those living in the sin of homosexuality frequently suffer very harsh consequences.

  2. I don’t want to dominate in doing the written prayers so some days I will post those and other days I will be in agreement with all who come here in Jesus’ name. We are two or three or more gathered in His name and that is such a blessing that I thank Him for. Also I thank AJ for his tremendous efforts to make this happen.

  3. Janice, I’ll echo all the others in that your written prayers are a real encouragement. I want to add that your offering up prayers publicly helps me be more confident in praying with others. I grew up never hearing anything but the usual rote prayers associated with meals, bedtime, liturgy, etc. It was difficult for me at first, when in situations where extemporaneous prayers were being offered, to get over my self-consciousness at praying around others.

Hearing (or in this case, seeing) the prayers of others such as yourself teaches me much about the joy of approaching our living Lord with assurance that He delights in our coming to Him in prayer. We need not be self-conscious about speaking to Him; it is all about Him and not us.

Please do continue with your written prayers, Janice. They are very much a blessing.

  4. Thank you all for your comments about the written prayers. I have been connected for a number of years with some online prayer sites where I do written prayers: The Presidential Prayer Team since soon after 9/11, Right From the Knees, Prayer Central, and Prison Fellowship for the Angel Tree children, and I am a member of Pray!Network. For that reason and years of practice (including prayer journals) I have had lots of practice doing written prayer. For a long time I was feeling uncomfortable praying out loud in a group. Finally, I am doing better with that through our church prayer fellowship on Wed. evening. Also, I have a once a month virtual prayer call with the Concerned Women for America-GA. When I write all of this down like this it feels a bit like too much.

  5. Mostly when I pray I try to think deeply about how the person/s being prayed over must feel in their situation. Then I respond to God from that deep well of thought. It is like getting into a total state of empathy and suffering along with the people, as much as is possible, regarding what they are going through. I think that is how people can effectively cry out to the Lord for others even when they don’t know the people. I hope that explanation of how I pray will help any here who struggle with knowing how or what to pray.

Praying using the words of Scripture is always appropriate for then people are using the language God understands best. I think that thought comes from Beth Moore who has a book on praying God’s word for anyone who would like to explore that.

  6. Heavenly Father, I pray for Linda’s friend Kevin who has been awfully ill lately and may even be afflicted with that dread disease of HIV/Aids. Thank You, Lord, for giving him a caring friend in Linda who lifts him up to You for a dose of Your healing balm. Please, Lord, give him eyes and a heart to know You during this time of illness and disease. May Linda be able to be in touch with him and in some kind and gentle way express Your love for him along with the forgiveness that is always available for those who seek it. I pray that if it is Your will that he be drawn to You at this time that his world of influence will be touched to know You as the loving God You are who seeks the best for all people. I pray for Kevin’s friends who may be feeling crushed in spirit by his times of illness. Also, I pray that he has a good support system to help him to recouperate in comfort. Thank You, again, Abba, for how You look after the weak among us. May they never feel left alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  7. Update on Brooklyn Orrange: She has been moved to a regular room, out of ICU. She still has a long road ahead to fully recover, but she is no longer in danger of losing her life. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow! Thanks for your prayers.

  8. Please pray for two San Diego Sheriff’s deputies who are in surgery at this hour, after being shot while attempting to arrest a man accused, by his girlfriend, of abusing her 2 daughters . 9. Yes, Praise the Lord, for the good news about Brooklyn Orrange. Lots of people are happy to hear that relieving news.

Praying for the two officers who are in the hospital in San Diego. Lord, every day our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line for the safety of people who are strangers to them. They are willing to lay down their lives for the citizens in our nation. You know these two officers and how they were trying to assist in stopping a terrible crime against children. Please give the officers healing, a divine repair as only You can make. I pray for everyone involved in their care to be extra diligent so as to remove any possibility of infection at their wound sites. I pray for their families to have support from friends, relatives and churches to meet their needs as they stand by at the hospital with their loved ones. Thank You Lord for the protection these officers gave. Please help the young girls and their mother as they have been traumatized. Show them how Your love transcends the wrongs and hurts that mean people do when they are acting upon evil desires. May this bad happening to all these people be worked for good in some manner in Your time and Your way for You are in control. We trust You for divine healing and restoration.
    In Jesus’ name, Amen

Praying for Darby’s parents, Nicole, Ree’s son, and others.

  10. Janice G.: I, too, have been blessed by your prayers. Please continue them. They give me great encouragement and help me in my own prayer life. I struggled with depression for many years and found a wonderful Christian therapist who also has a gift with prayer. They were like a soothing balm to my soul. I hope you’ll continue to bless others through prayer here.
