There is no reason for this post except to make my little girl happy. Here ya’ go Doodle, one of your mice is now on the internet. Plus, it gives me a chance to try a pic post.

My wife works with severely disabled children. One time a mouse got in the classroom with all these disabled children on mats. My wife went berserk, took off her shoe and beat the mouse to a death. One of the other teachers said Cindi looked like something out of the movie Psycho.

Oh wow, Joe, that would have been pretty horrifying to watch. Your wife is a Marine, right? Brutal.

Note to self…… Don’t tell Doodle about Joe’s comment.

She would not be pleased.

Yes she is Donna and she has absolutely no tolerance for any creature that might come near one of her children. These kids are highly susceptible to diseases. Their immune systems are very weak. When it comes to children, Cindi reminds me of Col Allen West when he said he would march through H—l with a can of gasoline for his men. Cindi would do that for her kids.

I’ve rescued mice brought into the house by my cat. I’m not fond of mice, but I do take pity on them when they’re squeaking in fear as she bats them around. 😦

This one used to be shy. Now when you walk up to her house she comes right out to see you. Or maybe she’s just lookin’ for food. She’s quite sweet, doesn’t mind being held, and is always grooming her roomates. They actually make pretty good pets. My daughter looooves them. So much so that we’ve had to set a strict 3 mouse limit. Everytime we go to a pet store, she sees a new one that she just looooooves, as she puts it. But the rule is no new mouses unless one has died. The white ones only last a year or 2. The fancy ones 2 to 3. She mourns each one. It’s sweet, and shows her soft heart. And then it all begins again with the next one. Circle of life and all I guess.

Joe,
Your story reminded me of the time we took 1 to church for the 4 and 5 year old class, which my daughter was in. The children absolutely loved her. When we were finished and moved upstairs however, things would go downhill fast. I was in the sunroom with Scurry and in came a lovely, sweet, young lady of about 16 who’s name I’ll leave out for reasons that will become apparent. She said “what’s that”, looking a bit apprehensive. I said, “it’s a mouse”. She turned white and fled. I went out into the foyer to show her it was just a cute little fuzzy mouse. Not my best move. By the time I got near her she was crying and one of the ladies who knew her was trying unsuccessfully to console her. When she saw the mouse a second time, she screamed and went hysterical. Lost. Her. Mind. Being a man faced with a hysterical woman, I fled the foyer. By the time I got the mouse hidden and returned a few minutes later, she was still crying, and wheezing into a paper bag. Her Mom was there and had to take her home. I was apologizing profusely, I’d had no idea. Her Mom said “It’s fine, she over reacts. We thought she’d eventually outgrow it but she never has.”. The next week she told me that once when she was little a mouse fell on her from the ceiling when she was little, and they had that effect on her ever since. Her mother says she’s overly dramatic. That was the last time we did that.
I should write a kid’s book titled “Never Take a Mouse to Church”. It would have been helpful to read one like that myself, then I’d of known. I’d hate to see future generations make this mistake. 🙂

Here’s another good one AJ. My sister and brother in law live in Columbus. When my niece and nephew had both a pet cat and a gerbil. My nephew decided that the cat needed to lean how to hunt. The next thing that happened was my niece was screaming. My Sister in Law ran upstairs and found the tail of gerbil hanging out of the cat’s mouth. The gerbil was recused followed with many many whippings accompanied by the wailing and nashing of teeth.

AJ, I have almost the same reaction to uncaged birds indoors as that 16 year old. My fear came from having a blackbird fly into our house & come right to me [at the time I would have said “come after me”] while I was lying sick on the couch, when I was about 10. I’m still not comfortable with loose birds that have no way to get outside, but I can at least deal with it.

Kay, we have two cats. One is definitely a mouser. We had a starling fly down the flu of the furnace and got caught inside the house. That cat went after that bird. went after that bird. We were able to get the bird out of the house before the cat killed the bird.

I’ve always wondered what makes church mice quieter than unchurched mice.
