  1. “Today, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and the United States Coast Guard, with support from the Department of War, executed a seizure warrant for a crude oil tanker used to transport sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran. For multiple years, the oil tanker has been sanctioned by the United States due to its involvement in an illicit oil shipping network supporting foreign terrorist organizations. This seizure, completed off the coast of Venezuela, was conducted safely and securely—and our investigation alongside the Department of Homeland Security to prevent the transport of sanctioned oil continues.”

  2. Trump should veto it until they take out the Ukraine money, which is all being laundered anyway, and same goes for Israel, a rich nation that doesn’t need our money.

Make them pay for weapons. Ukraine can ask the EU for the money, since they seem intent on continuing the farce.

  3. The traitorous Neocons are planning a comeback.

“Article suggests embracing the ‘moral tenor’ of ‘[the neocons’] political writings’ as ‘an antidote to Trumpism.’ Argument seems to be: First, the original neocons were (confidently) wrong about communism. Then they were (confidently) wrong about the Great Society. But then they realized they were wrong — were ‘mugged by reality’ — and developed and supported good policies. Of course that was a long time ago and nearly all of them are gone, but 20+ years ago their ideas and confidence led a new generation to get carried away by ‘a grand project to create democracy in Iraq.’ Oops. Now, though, they could be the answer to Trumpism. At least that is what the article suggests.”

So of course the grifters at The Atlantic spring into action.

  4. No Kings? Sure….

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — A federal judge in Maryland ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia freed from immigration detention on Thursday while his legal challenge against his deportation moves forward.

U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis ruled that Immigration and Customs Enforcement must release Abrego Garcia from custody immediately.

  5. The neo-cons are firmly in charge of US foreign policy. How else does one describe its policy towards Venezuela. It’s clearly the sequel to the Iraqi invasion — regime change in an oil rich country. Seizing an oil tanker just outside Venezuelan waters can be called theft, piracy etc but whatever you call it, it’s not lawful. A similar act by Iran in November was condemned by the US as a blatant violation of international law — and that descriptor is fairly accurate here too. This is the same neo-con playbook — even the excuses and speeches look to be recycled. Lindsey Graham’s speech supporting the Trump admin echoes the speech he made supporting the Bush admin’s lead up to the Iraqi war.

  6. I view Putin, Bibi, Modi, Xi, MSB, etc as all cut from the same authoritarian cloth. Thus I see funding Israel and Ukraine militaries as inconsistent. One should fund Ukraine but not Israel.

However, for the most part, the money Congress allocates to these countries never goes there. It goes straight to US military manufacturers. This is a domestic subsidy. Ukraine and Israel place orders and the US pays — the money never actually goes to Ukraine so corruption is a red herring in the argument against it. On the other hand, the fact Israel uses US weapons to perpetuate genocide is a good argument against funding Israel.

Another way to equip Ukraine and Israel is to release out of date weapons to those countries while updating the US’s own military. The value of this aid is probably also included in this aid package. In the case of ammunition and shells, giving these to Ukraine spares the Americans the expense of decommissioning the weapons. Here the military aid not only benefits the US manufactures but also its own military.

  7. Greene is interesting in that she’s a true believer in MAGA but not Trump. She’s consistent in her application of American First. She split from Trump not over any left-right ideas but rather Epstein, Israel and to a certain degree the shutdown. She’s certainly not a leftist rather she’s still an American First — she approves of tariffs, ICE, etc. But she doesn’t see the Trump admin acting in the interests of the Republican base and her own base. And she’s right. While neo-cons are in charge of foreign policies, paleo-conservatives are steering the domestic agenda. And while some of their policies may echo America First, at the end of the day, the paleo conservatives and their policies favour the elite.

  8. In 2023, the latest year of complete stats, 1.1 million people were deported from the US. If the provisional number this year is 600 000, then ICE for all its spending and publicity is actually behind and at roughly the same pace as 2024.

Citing “self-deportation” numbers is amusing. Every year people come and go from a country for all sorts of reasons — employment, family, medical, marriage, retirement, etc. You can’t assume its because they are scared of ICE.

However may people are avoiding the US due to the higher profile of ICE in this admin. Again its hard to determine whether less people crossed illegally — its not like they will stop to be counted and if apprehensions are down, it may be ICE has been diverted to cities away from the border. What has been obvious is less people are coming to the US to visit. Depending where and who you read, foreign tourist spending will be down 5-12 billion dollars this year. The actually number of tourists is down between 20-30%. It appears the US is not only scaring illegal migrants but also hurting a lucrative industry.

  9. Watching a court proceeding with Charlie Kirk’s murderer. He smiles and smirks…

The attorneys are conducting themselves with decorum and I would assess that the prosecutor side is going to rule victorious. His defense has nothing…as there is none.
