Relieved the election is over and the winner was clear, no wrangling for days or weeks ahead (I presume, I still haven’t caught up on this morning’s tallies). I said this on the news thread but may God continue to bless our nation — and may we, the people, also bless God.
It was a busy day for me yesterday, nonstop updates to post. Usually those days go by quickly, but yesterday didn’t.
Elections are crazy times for us so when they’re over it’s a huge sigh of relief. Back to port meetings and the usual fare. Nice to not have this election hanging over our heads (for everyone in the country), isn’t it? Whew. Now to move on and restore some of the fellowship here perhaps?
With no sore losers and no rude ‘winners’? 🙂
(My write-in didn’t win, but I didn’t expect that to happen, so I didn’t have a genuine horse in this race; which makes elections actually a lot easier to accept either way 🙂 )
We lost our power when it had been mostly decided but not yet officially called; I went to bed. I’m glad it isn’t being stretched out over a week or more.
Not a huge surprise to me, I thought Trump would pull it out (not that I predict elections anymore, but that was my sense in the final weeks).
And I’m with Cheryl, grateful it was a decisive result, both in the electoral college and in the popular vote. No recounts, no (we hope) haggling and legal challenges.
Some shock and awe on the left, of course, but Harris could never effectively separate herself from the Biden years. One really had no clue what she’d do in office, but the best guess was she’d follow in the traditional left-leaning footsteps.
So a mixed bag for me, I remain wary of Trump’s ability to be a stable leader and select good (and stable) people for his administration, we will have to wait and see on that front; but I support many of his stances on the issues.
But it’s time to move on from this election year (come 2025!) and for that I’m definitely grateful. We need some calm and some stability as a nation, at least for a little while. 🙂
We were at a medical office this morning. A big white garbage truck pulled up as we were getting out of our car. The truck driver entered the building as we did and was at the front desk asking something of the receptionist who said she could not deal with it because she had patients to help. I could not help but think he was there to pick up half the people in the waiting room! Survivor’s guilt! The driver happily walked out and threw up his hand with a happy goodbye to all like he was a celebrity♡
Yesterday the podiatrist let me out of the boot. It’s nice to walk around in normal shoes. I still limp a bit, favoring the repaired foot, but I think that’s more out of habit than anything.
I’ve tried several times to snatch that photo of the flowers in snow that you posted on Facebook. It won’t all me to copy it, so could you send me the photo?
It’s a great pic, and I want to post it for the gang here.
Thanks,
Allen

Good morning, Wanderers!
Long night. GO BACK TO BED!
NOT.
Lesson of the evening: Hard work pays off.

I went to bed before finding out the results. I am very surprised, to say the least.

So did I. I am cautiously optimistic it is done.

Meanwhile … Buffy’s napping on the front porch rocker, she’s so adorable 🙂 She watched as I watered all the hanging-basket flowering plants.

I woke up at 3am and checked my phone for the results. Then spent some time in prayer. I’m staying home today. Doing too much the last week
reading in Daniel reminds me that God controls the kingdoms of this world. And we certainly deserve His judgment

I just read where a small town here had their election won by a write in candidate. He beat out two others.
