Good morning from Not as Beautiful Land! We have lovely trees but too much concrete and asphalt. We also have cloud cover today.
This is our driest October on record. If we don’t get rain by the 31st, it will be the only Oct. In Georgia history without rain. Helene dumped it all in Sept so we are above average for the year.
We have a lot of falling leaves now so we have pretty yellow patches on the ground. It has turned cooler again, thankfully. I did a mile and a half walk to and from the elementary school yesterday. Getting the new hiking boots broken in.
We are beginning to see a lot more gray as the trees lose their leaves. There are a few spectacular trees here and there. I am ready for snow when the leaves are gone, and everything is gray. Even the pines become a grayer shade of green. We will get snow soon enough. Today will be beautiful for this late in October.
We have the heat on and the wood stove running. The wood stove keeps the furnace from turning on so often but enough to keep my dad’s room warm. We much prefer the wood heat.
That’s the big one in the dining room that is up. The four-foot one that I put on the entertainment center (which is like a mantel but deeper) is not up, and may be replaced with a new one.

Now the sun is up and I see we have heavy cloud cover as well. Beautiful fall colors are everywhere. Deck is covered in them. I repeat: beautiful day.

Cloudy morning here. We will see snow and a high of 36 on Wednesday. But for today our high will be 70! 😊

I just hung clothes on the line under a bright sun, but not a warm sun so it may be dryer time again.

But that’s because we never got around to taking it down. 😀 It’s not currently decorated, though.
