Good morning from about one and a half hours south of you, Debra. It feels like the weather hit the bull’s eye for fall today here, too.
I enjoyed a longer walk late yesterday. This weather motivates my feet to keep walking though I hesitate not knowing how far is too far since I took some months off from walking.
Yesterday, we went to the walk-in flu shot event at our usual clinic. Instead of being on the lower level as it has been for years, it was up on the second floor. When we walked in, I could see no receptionist, but there was a phone to video call. I used that only to be cut off. Tried again, but let the person know I had already started with another person. Just then I noticed movement through an opaque barrier and realized there was a receptionist around the slight corner. We proceeded there to finish signing in.
We had to use the elevator to go up to second floor. As we were waiting, we got texts, (at 1:37) telling us we had appointments, and we should get there by 1:35! Welcome to the wonderful world of modern healthcare.
The wait was longer than usual, although no one else seemed to be there for flu shots. However, the nurse giving the shot was wonderful and for the first time in years neither of us had much pain.
It is raining gold leaves this morning. Last night it was nice to be able to go out to see the Northern Lights. Unfortunately, we had a slight cloud cover, which made them quite dull.
Kathaleena, did you try getting pictures with your phone? Last time we were supposed to see them but didn’t much, my husband used his phone and got amazing shots. Mine did not but it is a bit older than his.
Yes, mumsee, I did take pictures with my phone. I was tempted to get out my old camera, but I would have had to replace batteries. I haven’t used it for years. The pictures do show soft green and barely visible red. My daughter 4 hours south of us and the one in TN got much brighter photos. Someday I want to see them again that bright.
We have natural Halloween decor. At our mailbox in the lilac bush we have a resident joro spider. They make the gigantic golden webs that are a chaotic, ugly jumble of strands. With the sunny blue sky day I was able to follow the glinting drop down strand from the telephone wires much higher up and see the crazy web was between the wires up high. They are definitely back here in full horror.
We had an absolutely amazing display of northern lights last night. Husband got some amazing shots – I’ll send some to AJ.
The wolves howled for a short time the first time we were outside. The second time (about an hour later, they howled for more than 15 minutes). It’s funny how all the other animals go silent when a wolf howls. The coyotes were yapping and they just went silent with the first wolf call. I think they were enjoying the light show!
Good morning everyone! It finally feels like fall around here. So delicious. :–)

When people a few miles down the road from us posted terrific Northern Lights shots, we went hunting.
All we spotted were a four-point buck, two juvenile deer, and a skunk.
None were colorful. 😦

I saw a post from St. Simon’s Island that showed a little color in the night sky at the Georgia coast. Wondering if that was real.
There are so many beautiful pictures on Facebook of the lights! It is quite a contrast to all the devastation in nature at Western NC.
