Ha. You’re spunky today, rk. I’m still digesting yesterday’s feast. And getting ready for work. But those are two very excellent questions to consider. :–)
Bringing out the leftovers from yesterday’s feast, Debra, you said, “If we had not funded and armed Ukraine for our own purposes, there would be peace there right now I believe.”
What do you think our own purposes were/are? I don’t really have a theory about that.
“After being AWOL at fundraising events on the west coast while the hurricane devastated the south, Kamala Harris just spent five minutes reading off a script at the FEMA headquarters and then left without taking any questions from reporters.”
For example, the unleashing American energy part is doable, but only if Trump is elected. Dems won’t do it or they already would have.
But the cutting the budget and deficit is never gonna happen, both sides are too addicted to spending.
Another dog that will never hunt is doing away with the Dept. Of Ed.. Never gonna happen with Democrats. Same for returning control to the local level. Democts are beholden to unions who won’t stand for that.
Reining in the bureaucrats? The DoJ and FBI? Good luck with that, won’t happen.
“Two experts testify in DeKalb GOP v Raffensperger that the election system in Gwinnett County, Georgia was remotely accessed from Belgrade, Serbia DURING the 2020 Election
Similar activity also happened in Colorado, Michigan, and other states”
“Sure is weird how many lawmakers who were crawling over broken glass to take glamour shots with Zelensky and shove our cash in his pockets last week are nowhere to be found now that actual Americans are in desperate need of help.”
“CNN: President Trump was treated “almost as though he is a sitting president” on the ground in Georgia — as Kamala and Biden were back in D.C. desperately trying to act like they didn’t botch the hurricane response.
“[President Trump] is clearly taking this seriously.””
“It’s official: 45,000 port workers are now on strike, from Maine to Texas.
“We will cripple you” – Head of ILA”
—-
“Congrats to Biden and Kamala
You’re such terrible leaders that you just allowed a dock workers strike to happen for the 1st time in almost 50 years that will cripple our economy just 1 month before your election
For those who are against us helping Ukraine, I have a “devil’s advocate” type of question:
If the U.S. did indeed instigate the invasion of Ukraine by Russia by not giving up our insistence that Ukraine be allowed to join NATO, then don’t we have a responsibility to help Ukraine? Kind of in a “cleaning up our mess” kind of way?
“We do not have this equipment readily available because we have shipped large quantities of transformers and other electrical equipment to Ukraine. Both our military and non-military support for Ukraine has left us less prepared for domestic disasters like Hurricane Helene:”
—–
And with a dock workers strike, fewer can even be imported.
“The federal government abysmally failed the people of North Carolina. But, don’t worry, FEMA is laser-focused on resettling illegals aliens in your neighborhood.”
Over the last 4 years the Biden-Harris admin has steadily transformed FEMA — the agency responsible for responding to natural disasters like Hurricane Helene — into an illegal alien resettlement agency that emphasizes DEI over public safety.”

Read the whole thread. We’re ruled by clowns and idiots.
“The 8 illegal immigrants who were caught robbing hurricane victims illegally entered the country as “gotaways” according to @AliBradleyTV.
The illegals were caught looting in Eastern Tennessee as locals were fighting for their lives.
Albin Nahun Vega-Rapalo, 24; David Bairon Rapalo-Rapalo, 37; Kevin Noe Martinez-Lopez, 25; Marvin Hernandez-Martinez, 43; and Dayln Gabriel Guillen Guillen, 37 were charged with aggravated burglary.
Jesus Leodan Garcia-Peneda, 51; Josue Berardo Ortis-Valdez, 30; and Ersy Leonel Ortis-Valdez, 33, were charged with burglary.”
—–
In many states, and I pray this is one of them, the penalties for such crimes are very steep.
“I was on the phone for two hours” as a response to Americans dying in floods ought to be remembered as one of the most shameful statements ever uttered by an American president.”
“The ILA refusing automation isn’t even the craziest demand.
The craziest ILA demand is *touch* fees
Let me explain…
You’ve heard about our crumbling highways and bridges? And the $1.2 TRILLION infrastructure bill Congress passed to fix them? Well, the primary culprit for that damage? Heavy loads.
The rest of the world gets it. They offload containers onto barges or feeder ships to save their roads and reduce fatalities. It’s called short sea shipping.
Europe: Big ship arrives ➡️ 🏗️ moves container ➡️ terminal ➡️ 🏗️ onto a barge ➡️ barge sails to a smaller port ➡️ 🏗️ onto a truck ➡️ short drive to warehouse.
That’s 3 crane *touches*
US (ILA ports): Big ship arrives ➡️ 🏗️ moves container ➡️ truck 🚛 drives *hundreds of miles.*
That’s 1 union crane *touch*
Why? Because every time the union crane *touches* a container, the union rakes in a massive fee.
So it’s somehow cheaper to truck containers hundreds of miles and let taxpayers foot the road repair bill than let the union *touch* it two more times for short sea shipping to work.
“The Jones Act also makes it illegal to ship anything from a US port to another US port unless it’s on a US manufactured, US crewed, US flagged vessel. There’s a grand total of only 23 container ships that qualify. The Jones Act must be destroyed. Jones Act delenda est!”
Kizzie, that’s a fair question. But what kind of help can we give Ukraine that will really make things better? Is there an endgame or do the last two years just go on forever?
“Right now, #TelAviv is under a severe terror attack. From Iran-backed terrorists, as well as rockets from Iran. The war in Middle East has just been thrown wide open.India 🇮🇳 must stand with its friend Israel 🇮🇱 at this hour. Unshakeably.”
“Jimmy Carter was elected president 48 years ago. Nine years ago, at age 90, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. Twenty months ago, he stopped medical treatment and entered into hospice care. Today he turns 100.”
Made it home. Sitting on my porch watching the world go by and resisting the urge to go full Clint Eastwood on my neighbours.
The US is the most influential figure on the world stage but even then some things are not their fault/responsibility. In the case of Ukraine, its not all about US policy – it’s about the pull to Europe. The majority of Ukrainians want to be part of Europe. The attraction is simple – a social economy that takes care of its people. They want the capital investment Brussels gives, the maternity leave, the health care, the vacations, the travel, etc. A minority have nationalists ties to Russia. This issue has dominated domestic politics since 1991.
The US could walk away from Ukraine tomorrow and the war will continue. Even if Russia gains the territories it wants and puts a collaborationist regime in Kiev, the war will continue in Lviv.
There’s never a correct political response to a natural disaster.
If Biden went to North Carolina, Georgia, or Florida, he would be criticised for getting in the way. And Harris would be criticised for politicising the disaster. I’m sure my left wing sites are criticizing Trump for getting anywhere near the disaster.
The closest thing to a correct response is to say you are working the phones ie you are doing something but not in the way.
Project 2025 is the bogeyman of this year’s election. It’s an election motivation tool for the Democratic party. Trump was dumb enough to visibly associate himself with it.
With the normal gridlock of DC, i doubt any of the policies proposed will happen but……that hasnt stopped the fear mongering. It is illustrative of the unpopularity of the Republican party platform. The only reason the Republican party still has some power is the electoral college, gerrymandering and over representation of the rural vote.
The comparison to American and European shipping is weird. There are massive amounts of subsidies and govt intervention in Europe. A container ship will arrive in Rotterdam and then get off loaded into canal barges and trains. However, the canals and railroads are either owned by the gov’t or heavily subsidised. Whereas capitalism will naturally concentrate in one place so in the US with less gov’t intervention will have larger ports and less “touches’. And I’m quite sure the Jones Act benefits the few corporations as well as the ILA.

Kevin, I have a longer answer to your very good question this morning than I can post now. But I will say it’s not a conspiracy theory about one thing or group of people. It’s many things. And the motivations, I think, range from covetousness to fear.
I enjoyed the debate. Vance’s body language was fun to watch. His look at the camera reminded me of my brother looking at me when we shared an inside understanding of what was being said. Sort of an unspoken “you know better than that”.
Are yall taking a breath before entering the debate this morning?

I am watching the debate. CBS “moderators” are just about as awful as their colleagues at ABC so far! The candidates happen to be doing ok!

Minnesota currently has no statutory limits on abortion at any stage of pregnancy.

I enjoyed the debate. Vance’s body language was fun to watch. His look at the camera reminded me of my brother looking at me when we shared an inside understanding of what was being said. Sort of an unspoken “you know better than that”.
