We had a storm roll through with a lot of rain and small hail. This afternoon is supposed to bring stronger storms with large hail and strong winds. We are grateful for the rain which is much needed again.
Good morn8ng. Art had an appointment to see someone about his ankle. Tomorrow we go see someone else at the same place about his knee. Had to be separate appointments per insurance although all related.
We went to a new humongous building near us, part of Emory. It’s the Muscularoskeletal (sp?) Institute. We thought maybe it was a year old, but found out it is three years old. It still had the new smell.
It all seemed so futuristic. The check-in guy told us that there are no buttons to push for floors inside the elevator. There are touch screens outside the elevator to “push” your floor number.
There was a longish passage way with seats overlooking large windows to the left. The corridors with doc offices were called Lanes so you were told to sit outside your Lane number (or letter). For the xray area, a giant silver X was on the wall by that Lane.
I thought to myself, “We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto.”
Wow, Janice, that building — I’d kind of forgotten about it but they installed some of those button-less elevators in the last “news room” space (in a high-rise) we rented, very weird. (The pandemic brought a close to that chapter, thankfully — nice building but cramped little spaces to work out of, had to lug in your own computer & files; and generally unpleasant – though their lobby Christmas decorations were always pretty and we did have a view if we walked down the hall a ways to get to an actual window).
Hoping the ankle & knee are easy fixes (I think my orthopedist does “only” knees, everything is a specialty and micro-specialty now).
… with a special landslide-ski-jump-road detour? How much more fun can you have? (Since we can’t depend on a tornado taking us up into the air so Abby could just stay comfortably in the house — maybe as this election gets closer, though? 🙂 )
Today we had the warmest day in sixteen days, up in the mid-eighties. It felt hot to me!
Speaking of bumps on the road, since our street is partially repaved, they removed most of the speed bumps. Art is happier these days, but it won’t be for long before they will be back. Unless someone with political pull has complained.
Art had a knee fracture when he fell on the stairs when our power was out a number of years ago. It appears he also fractured around the ankle according to the x-ray. I guess the knee was worse so he didn’t notice the ankle? It healed on its own. He had the knee treated, but both have given him some trouble over the years. He also has a few bone spurs on the foot. I think he will be getting insoles like I got. We match! He has more appointments and can do physical therapy.
Janice – It could be for real. I’ve seen reports over the years of other prison programs with dogs and horses. There is something about taking care of an animal that can do wonders for a person.
Years ago, actor Mickey Rourke was contemplating suicide, but then he looked at his dog and realized that he had to stick around to take care of him.
In one of James Herriot’s books, he tells of a little hellion who found a stray dog and started taking care of him. His parents wouldn’t help. so the kid had to find odd jobs to be able to buy whatever the dog might need, and the kid straightened out as he cared for his dog.
Sadly, that one ended with the dog dying of a disease that the vet could not cure, and the boy went back to his old ways. 😦
Good morning, all. A beautiful clear day here.

Now Toto, there was a dog who was willing to travel.
Abby’s giving me grief again about getting into the car. 😦

A little flying over lumps and bumps in the road never hurt anyone.

Tornados in our area, although far from me. Our weather is quite calm and nice right now.

That was a sad end, Kizzie. A new pet would have made a huge difference!
