😦 Church member we all loved died (50ish+?), a beautiful, blonde, “surfer girl” and accomplished theologian in her own right, wife, mom of several grown children (one son now pastors a church in Hawaii with his new wife) — after a long battle with cancer which she fought valiantly to get more time with her family.
😦 90-year-old British friend from church is struggling with his recovery after surgery for broken femur. He and his wife were at church last week but he texted me today that his recovery, overall, is going much more slowly than he’d anticipated and “old age” things are settling in which he really doesn’t like so much (and I can’t blame him). He’s very youthful and upbeat by nature, but sounds uncharacteristically discouraged and “down.”
😦 Life can be so hard.
🙂 The Lord’s Day tomorrow
🙂 kittens
🙂 Abby, such a sweet dog and companion, though if she’d go for rides to the beach and a dog park that might make it all even sweeter 🙂
🙂 Heading out to dinner w/friend in a little while.
Interesting story, Dj. That woman was very wise in her entrepreneurship. and it seems several others were blessed by it. There is a lesson in that, which many can learn from.
🙂 Wonderful days with the two youngest grands and their mom. We spent all yesterday at the zoo and then visiting a popular tourist area on Lake Superior.
🙂 Hearing my granddaughter talk about God creating, while at the zoo and then about Adam and Eve’s sin and expulsion from the garden. It reminded me of the admonition to incorporate the teaching of God’s revealed truth to our children (and grandchildren) all throughout the day.
🙂 Restaurants which cater to the need for Gluten Free and other dietary needs that people have. We visited an ice cream shop that my granddaughter, who has Celiac disease, had many choices for ice cream. The server was, obviously, very educated about the needs for those who must be very strict in avoiding gluten.
One of her gifts (re @6:07-6:11) was a very large, very plain/simple wood cross (crafted from the Hollywood Bowl remnants) that has hung on our main wall behind the pulpit for all these years since.
She was a student of our pastor’s when he was teaching for a few years at a local public high school and they’d been good friends ever since, I know this loss must be so terribly hard for him and his wife.
😦 The heat today is wearisome
🙂 I can stay indoors
😦 Art had a flat tire
🙂 Art is home today
🙂 The thought of kittens
🙂 Miss Bosley wants to be Queen Bee
🙂 Church tomorrow
🙂 The joy of the Lord that transcends the sufferings of life
