  1. Good morning. It was a dark night at our house. Finally power got restored around 1 a.m. Some were still out this morning. Many more trees are down.

Late yesterday 6 posted on the Political thread with some good comments and a possible answer to the question, “What did he mean by that statement.”

  2. That sounds dreadful, Janice.

I am enjoying a cool morning. We have the usual jam today and then a gig in the evening. The group did this last year and said never again. Someone must have forgotten that. We may have storms, so may have to move from outdoors to in a VFW. It will be hot yet, if outdoors.

I hope everyone has a good Wednesday.

  3. Big commotion across the street at around 4:30 a.m., sounded like a standoff between a coyote and little dog barking frantically; I saw someone with a flashlight outside, probably the immediate neighbor who’s an early-rising longshoreman — our ravine/canyon borders his house — but eventually it all went quiet (and I didn’t hear anything drastic happening to little dog).

Neighbors said their Labs were barking through it all in the house and even quiet Abby was worried, looking out the window and letting out some low-volume barks.

    Seeing Halloween decor ads already.

  4. Dj, the news reported the size of that fire same as you reported it on Fox Atlanta this morning. Those fires are tremendous and so scary in the scope of their destruction. The storms we get leave a big mess but don’t consume everything.

  5. Maybe it was ‘your’ fire they were referring to, just saw headline and we’ve had a massive fire burning in Northern CA near Sacramento for at least a week now.

Looking forward to cooler months ahead, but not sure we will get the rain we have had in the past couple years, looks like it’s a La Nina pattern this time around with less rain in the forecast.

  6. I opened my door to put out an empty water bottle in the recycle bin. There was a man near the door which initially surprised me. He told me who he was and I told him my friend (in Bible study) had met him. Thankfully I felt he was a good guy based on that reference. He is running for state senate against a rather radical person who was unopposed. He stepped up three days before the deadline to run as a centrist republican. He has been a surgeon. I am very thankful for him. Wish for more like him. I hope it is okay I posted here. Since it is local and mostly neighborhood news I don’t consider it highly political. It is really more about the dedication and bravery of a candidate to pound the pavement in this heat. God bless him!

  7. It’s hot here and more fires have erupted along the front range. Many evacuations and one reported death sadly. We are supposed to get cooler tempts accompanied with a smattering of rain tomorrow…so much of the west is burning😢

    Praying over you AJ…

  8. Had to change plans today as the smoke from the Park fire came our way. Tried to go in the direction of the hike but the smoke just got thicker and thicker.

I’m home now and it is fairly clear here.

The kids and I were praying as next week is the county fair which many rely on for fund raising and it is our end of the summer good time.

  9. My husband’s music group had all their equipment set up in the gazebo when the wind picked up and it was apparent a full-blown storm was moving through. That was not totally unexpected, but everyone was hoping it would miss us. A church always makes hamburgers, brats, hotdogs to serve along with popcorn, ice cream and other things. They were also all set up and had to hurry to get everything put away. Unfortunately, the power also went out so we couldn’t even move to the indoor alternative. This is the town that was so badly flooded recently.
