  1. Good morning, all. Another beautiful day here, much cooler. Instead of starting at seventy three, we are starting at sixty five. But smoke is heavy in the air and any fires started by the lightning but lying low due to the rain could be bursting forth in the next couple of days. The two closest fires are both about two thousand acres, but several much larger fires around as many smaller ones. Busy day for firefighters and all.

  2. We have had smoke from the fires for the last couple of days. Fortunately, the worst of it is staying high up. You cannot see blue sky, however. I can only imagine how bad it is close up. Firefighting is such a difficult, dangerous job. Prayers for them who are doing it.

I am enjoying the fresh cool air and the smell of freshly cut grass (from yesterday). We should have horribly hot weather and humidity the next several days. Thank God for fans!

  3. Still smoky and hazy here. No blue sky! Hot and even muggy. Looking forward to snow already!

I shopped for baby boy things yesterday. Cutest outfits and soft cuddly blanket. It is such a joy to hand a basket of sweet baby things to a first time mama. The smiles, tears and excitement is something to keep me smiling in this world of turmoil. There is so much for which to be thankful❣️

  4. Tree guy yesterday called and said there is a window of opportunity between rain days to do the big job today. They were out there soon after 7 a.m. I had a podiatrist appt. at 7:30. On our way home, when we got near our street we saw lots of road work. Of all days, our street is being paved. We had to weave our way through all the paving equipment. At our home, all the tree guys equipment was pulled into our yard. It is crazy loud here! Six guys with chain saws and add a chipper machine right by the bedroom window.

My ankle has been having a problem for maybe six weeks. It is a tendon and tibia problem so I will get an ankle brace, do low impact exercise, and hope it is well in about six weeks. Thankful I got in with this wonderful doc who Art has seen. I have missed long walks but did not want to stress it until I knew what was going on. Took some time to get in to see this doc. Worth the wait.

  5. Reports from Gettysburg are all positive this morning. In pictures, son is dressed in his more casual suit, complete with hat, shades, and black gloves. He is in his element talking World War Two.

  6. Janice, glad you got the foot/leg thing diagnosed and being treated. I still need to get into a podiatrist (I have the referral) for that bunion issue.

It’s a bit disconcerting how different parts of your body start to give way! And now there are specialists for each part of the body, so it gets complicated quickly.

I also need to get back to PT on knee/leg strengthening exercises. But since it’s not an urgent need, I’ve put that off.

So Abby’s trainer returns Saturday. It’s in a discouraging phase, but … trying not to lose hope. Trainer says she thinks we’ll get there but “no promises.”

Meanwhile, speaking of discouragement, the 2024 campaign seems mired in chaos, on both sides. Very disheartening overall looking at what the nation has become (for now). 😦 I’m now planted firmly on the “pox on both their houses” side of this mess.

But … It’s Friday, yay, so I’m focusing on that today. 🙂

  7. Question posed by one of our photographers who has the day off:

‘How big does a dragonfly need to be before I just call it a bird? I’m being harassed.’
