  1. Thanking God today for humor and comediennes who have good, clean humor. Life has so many things to laugh about and God gave us humor, IMO. What a gift is laughter.

  2. Finally connected with son of neighbor yesterday (this was the one who was so troubled, substance abuse issues).

He’s spent more than a year in a recovering camp in the mountains and told me he has 10 months ‘clean and sober’ now which was good to hear — pray for continued stability, he has to check in daily with a recovery place to get tested).

  3. Love these encouraging posts today!

Still praying for AJ to soon feel much better and stronger.

Have not solved email situation yet. Problem is that I do not know my long ago password which was tied to my old lost phone. They want to text to old phone number which will not work. It is a Catch 22 scenario. With prayer, perhaps some solution will present before I decide I have to set up new email and forget the old one.

  4. Nightingale and Boy will soon be departing for a weekend camping trip with Niece, Grandniece, and a friend. Please pray for safety for them all, in the traveling and during the camping, and that God will open their eyes to His creative touch in the beauty of creation, drawing each one to Himself.

  5. Also, please pray that their dog Janie will be okay at the boarding place. Boy is not happy that she is there (at my request), so I would feel doubly horrible if anything bad happened to her.

  6. Praying Kizzie.

And Janice, I hate these computer password messes. A tech person I am definitely NOT.

And how is AJ’s “cold,” mostly gone we hope?

  7. I’d like to please request prayer for 3rd Arrow’s MIL, M. M lives with daughter and SIL, and babysits our infant granddaughter while they are at work. (Except Fridays, when I babysit on my day off of teaching in the summer.)

Wednesday after 3rd got home from work, M took off and hasn’t been heard from by any family members these last two days. She has a history of doing this, but returns in a few days or weeks and doesn’t offer an explanation. This is the first time she’s done it since 3rd went back to work a few weeks ago. Daughter didn’t realize yesterday until she was leaving for work at 5am that M’s car wasn’t there, meaning M hadn’t returned the night before.

M doesn’t answer her phone when she takes off.

M also currently has a urinary tract infection, and we wonder if it caused her to get confused about which day was which. (If she was thinking Wednesday was Thursday, then she might have reasoned on Wednesday that “tomorrow is Friday,” which is the day I come to babysit, so perhaps she thought the babysitting was covered and she wouldn’t need to be there.)

There’s a lot of background I haven’t gone into; please pray as the Spirit leads you.

    Thank you so much.

  8. Amen

That is unnerving, Six. She could really get hurt out there as it sounds like she’s somewhat vulnerable. Or just lost and in confusion.

I remember some bracelets that came out in LA County a few years ago to help keep tabs on family members who tended to wander. Maybe something like that could help for everyone’s peace of mind (and for her safety)?

  9. Kathaleena – Janie is a nervous dog to begin with, so that has him concerned. But I’m sure she will be fine, and the people who run those places probably are very good with the dogs.

  10. 4th Arrow works at a doggie daycare/boarding place. She texts us pictures of dogs dressed up for Mardi Gras and other such fun that they provide for the animals on special occasions. 😉 She enjoys her work.

DJ, thanks for that link. We do have a similar resource in our county, one which my husband, as a retiree, and my autistic son utilize. It sounds like M is fiercely independent, though, always wanting to be the helper and never the helped. Then when those moments of overwhelm come, she bails and disappears for a while.

Meanwhile, her family worries with each episode that she could be dead in a ditch somewhere or something and they might not know for days or weeks…

But, yeah, the UTI and possible resulting confusion (can that latter happen with 50-year-old women, or does the confusion only appear in the elderly with UTIs?) are concerning. She also has cancer, which, if it has spread to her brain, that could maybe have an effect. Maybe?

Thank you for praying for M and her family, everyone.

Prayers for wisdom for hubby and me are appreciated, too. We’re working out ways to possibly assist daughter and son-in-law with daycare next week if M doesn’t return over the weekend. 3rd and SIL have other back-up options in mind, too. I feel quite strongly that daycare provided by family members is best, when possible, as do daughter and SIL, but I’m not sure I have the stamina to take care of a 3-month-old for 7 hours and then go teach 9, 10, or 11 students. And hubby’s got lots of things going, too, retirement not at all slowing him down.

6th Arrow hasn’t done any independent baby sitting, just has helped out with her three nieces while in the presence of other family. And 5th Arrow can be home alone, but with his disabilities wouldn’t be able to be a caretaker, especially to an infant. I think 6th could adapt pretty fast, though, if need be.

Putting it all in God’s hands…
