My friend and I went to visit our 94 y/o friend. We wanted to cheer her since she has had some losses this week. We carried her a peach milkshake from Chick-fil-A which she loved. We ended up playing Rummikub which was fun.
Oh, I had a peach milkshake on my birthday! My husband and I went to the food court, and I got bourbon chicken from one of the Asian places but my husband was going to Chick-fil-A, and he asked me if I wanted him to get me a peach shake. It was good! (We were originally going to go to Panera–they’re way overpriced, especially now, but we have a gift card to use–but they apparently dropped the sandwich I like, and I suggested the food court.)
We also got to hike a new trail that went in around the time he went into the hospital a year and a half ago, one that I knew he would like but he just has never had the energy to try it, even though it’s an easy trail (it’s a little longer than he has been walking)–and he really loved it! On one side of the trail is a farm and on the other side a creek, and lots of trees and birds and some wildflowers. Fortunately, somehow, very few trees were knocked down by the storm earlier this week, because it would have been quite sad if they had the same percentage of mayhem and destruction as most of the city had.
A peach shake sounds so good. 🙂 Glad you two got out, Cheryl.
Ah, Saturday. Bliss. Work has been really hectic for a long time now, we are short-handed which has been a part of it, but it’s also just been one big local news thing after the other (beyond our regular stories). This past week was the homeless counts being released in LA county. But I also had just several port stories to jam out (with still one to do, it was able to be held over until Monday).
I requested Friday — the day after the 4th — off for a vacation day and I see that was approved, so I’ll have a 4-day weekend next week. So needed. Hoping it will give me a chance to catch up on a few things.
Knee is OK, just taking it as it goes. I have a followup with knee orthopedist in another couple weeks. Thanks for asking.
Took formerly homeless friend, K, shoe shopping today, she needed some good walking shoes and wanted to go to a local runners’ store where she used to buy shoes.
But when we got there — in a quaint seaside town nearby — we discovered there was a big outdoor craft fair of some kind going on today and the little district was packed; so I dropped her off, she went into the store, and I circled a nearby metered parking lot but never did get lucky enough to grab a free spot. She called, said she was done, so I just drove back across the street to the store and picked her up.
My friend is still at lunch with her lady friends from her church and found out one was in my elementary school, and my friend called so I could reconnect with her. She was in the class after mine so I did not know her well but I recognized the name. She is attending the evening Bible study I attend with my friend so we can meet there this summer
Turns out I have a bit of a fever. Maybe my dad had it last week, his stomach was bothering him. I doubt he would recognize a fever though he did mention being cold.

Good morning! It’s a good day to enjoy to the full. Hoping AJ feels better and has relief from the inflamation.

Take at least one of those days to totally relax Dj! How’s the knee anyway?

Cheryl – I am so glad to hear that your husband was able to hike that trail with you.

Good morning, all. Another beautiful day here. Expecting thunderstorms. Feeling a bit achy today, no idea why. Hope it passes quickly!

ah, I must have pushed it twice. Blame it on delirium. Or dementia. Or talking with twenty two daughter.
