Good morning! It’s been on the mild side here, in the 70s so pleasant for walking.
Son and I hiked on the other side of the boardwalk trail that runs over our street to the other park. It’s so nice go have two parks connected by this nice trail.
We saw a cute addition to this closer park. Someone has put up a little sign about building a snake of painted rocks that runs beside the sidewalk. Anyone can add to it. I wonder how long it will be eventually? I posted a photo on ii on Facebook.
The jam group played at a new assisted living facility yesterday. Those people had so much fun. Some residents were not too pleased about the resident singing very loudly off key. The group was just happy to see her enjoying herself so much. After they performed, we talked to a woman who had been (years ago) in some jams with my husband. More and more we seem to know residents in these places. The staff seemed wonderful, and it was a nice facility. God bless those who do wonderful care at these places.
It’s May Gray here on the coast. Which is fine by me.
Going out to cover the longshore union’s annual tribute to those who have lost their lives on the job — and it’s also the 90th anniversary of the union’s founding (amid demonstrations and some shed blood back in those days).
It’s a pleasant 66° this afternoon. I hear the mail truck. Good thing I got those pesky ants out of the box about thirty minutes ago. We’ve had so much rain. Poor ants. They just want a dry shelter. All they get for their effort is Kboomed. I really hate killing those ants.
It was cloudy this morning the the clouds opened up and dumped a good amount of rain on us!
I drove to my favorite Antique shoppe and had a relaxing time walking about listening to oldie music . I found an old glass oil lamp to add to my collection and another bread board to add to that collection. Wonder if anyone is going to want this stuff when I kick the bucket??!! I will enjoy them until then!
I was speaking to our new contributor: mumseep, but did not mind my p’s and q’s and the iPad opted not to acknowledge her. How rude. But I caught it this time and corrected the correction.
NJ – I think about that, too. I suspect that my girls will do what we did when my mom died, which was to pick out whatever in her collection happened to be special to us, and let the rest go. In the meantime, like you, I will enjoy my collections. (Teacups, teapots, books, and a few stuffed animals.)
Funny thing about that. . .Mom had a collection of salt & pepper shakers from various places, and some just for fun. I have three of the sets – a couple of Pink Panthers (my dad liked him), a couple of pandas in different poses, and a dog with a fire hydrant. When Nightingale went on vacation last year to South Carolina (I think it was), she brought me back a set of shiny sea shell salt & pepper shakers. That was adding to a collection that I didn’t even start. 😀
I inherited from of those oil lamps. Two of them I had converted to electricity.
My mom would light an oil lamp or two for the holiday table with a seasonal table cloth, it was always so pretty. She grew up with kerosene lamps in Iowa so was very comfortable using them (me, not so much, I kept worrying I’d burn the house down).
One of the black-and-white photos I took when I was in a college photography class was her lighted kerosene lamp, casting a very soft light, on the table in the dining room (I still have the photo somewhere, I found it on the board it was attached to — for turning it in).
But my mom was disappointed because her tablecloth wasn’t perfect ironed and some wrinkles showed up too prominently. I kind of thought it enhanced the overall image but she wasn’t seeing it that way. 🙂
I had a long day with an in-person assignment that went for at least 2-3 hours — and I had a really hard time writing the story afterward for some reason. I’ve covered this even in past years, maybe I just had trouble because I couldn’t get a new angle on it particularly.

We were out shooting the bows and flying the drone while my dad did his laps on the deck.

Son is practicing guitar. Always good to hear music in the house when he is home.
