  1. Another attempt to intimidate R poll watchers and anyone who dares point out discrepancies from the usual clowns.

  2. “The FBI wasn’t investigating Aimee Harris for theft at all. There was nothing illegal about finding the diary in a Halfway House where Ashley left it nor did the FBI say Amy stole the diary. Rather the FBI was investigating Amy Harris for selling the diary to the media… Now the DOJ wants you to think that Amy burgled the diary out of Ashley Biden’s nightstand. The reality is Aimee found Ashley Biden’s diary in a Halfway House abandoned like Hunter’s laptop. That’s not theft. No one at the DOJ or in the media for that matter are curious about the claims made in the journal but the woman who exposed all of this she goes to jail and you pay for it.

The diary confirms three things: –

  3. Continued from yesterday’s ongoing discussion on civility:

I believe the term “prevailing political correctness” referred not to the country’s pc but to this site’s politically correct direction.

in the big picture, we are in agreement: God.

As we drop into the fine tuning: we all tend to be fairly conservative.

Finer still: we start into disagreeing on how the above is best served.

But that might better be discussed around the table rather than in the fighting ring. It should be more of a civil debate, expressing one’s views while hoping to be heard, and in turn listening to other views with intent of understanding without necessarily agreeing. But by listening, we better understand how to communicate and how to pray for each other.

  4. “Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.” Ps 37:1

The Word says not to be anxious or jealous of the apparent success of evil people or of the rampaging progress of sin in the world.

A great verse to meditate on. Visualize what the world is coming to. Think about the increase of all the evidences of evil. Visualize in your mind the thought that satan plants in your life that says, “That person is succeeding without God; the world is succeeding without God -where is it all headed?”

Visualize this and then listen to God as He says, “Don’t be anxious or jealous.” Personalize it. If you are anxious about the world situation, breathe that verse back to God. “Lord Jesus, I now realize that it is sin to fret or be anxious about the evil in the world. Lord, you are in control. This is your problem, not mine, and I want to give it back to you.”

(Then meditate on the wonderful verses of Ps 37 that follow.)

  5. Good thoughts, Mumsee, and Tychicus.

The typical things that people feel envy or covetousness about are materrial in nature. I tend toward a thought process of, ” Why would I want responsibility for that? It would take away time I have to spend with God where the true treasure is found.”

Social media is a poor substitute for a sit down and enjoy meal and conversation with people. I know some people tend to have too much to drink with a meal and things can go south fast if that happens, but in general, people seem to work harder at having civil discussions around enjoyment of the blessing of good food.

  8. Janice – re: your comment about envy and thinking, “Why would I want responsibility for that?: – Sometimes I see the inside photos of large homes, and think how nice they are. But right on top of that thought is that I wouldn’t want to have to do all that housecleaning! 😀

  9. Although I still insist that I was not comparing Trump to Hitler, I do want to share this about Godwin’s Law, which AJ brought up last night:

“Godwin’s law can be applied mistakenly or abused as a distraction, a diversion, or even censorship, when miscasting an opponent’s argument as hyperbole even when the comparison made by the argument is appropriate. Godwin has criticized the over-application of the adage, claiming that it does not articulate a fallacy, but rather is intended to reduce the frequency of inappropriate and hyperbolic comparisons. . .

. . .Godwin rejects the idea that whoever invokes Godwin’s law has lost the argument, and suggests that, applied appropriately, the rule “should function less as a conversation ender and more as a conversation starter.” In an interview with Time Magazine, Godwin said that making comparisons to Hitler would actually be appropriate under the right circumstances.”

  10. AJ – Last night you said:

~ “And you’re also well aware that when you compare people’s candidate of choice to Hitler, you’re gonna get pushback, so don’t act shocked.” ~

I wasn’t shocked, I was merely frustrated that I had to explain myself five or more times and was still being accused of intending what I did not intend. It was kind of like accusing me of lying.

As for political discussions being “full contact”, again, that is not a biblical way to discuss matters. The world may do it that way, but we are not of the world. There are so many verses in the Bible about how we should communicate. Our words should be “seasoned with salt”, not vinegar.

  11. Good comments mumsee & Ty (and others). Mumsee had the ‘political correctness’ comment correct, it was referring to this small group/”pool” that we are all a part of (and in which there is a rather strong majority view). I apologize if it was not clear.

And yes, we all can rejoice in our faith, our trust in God through all of our struggles (inward and with one another).

It will all pass in time (though I suspect the November election won’t resolve it, either way — our country is in a rather foul mood right now lol)

    But God knows.

I’m reading a book on the Bible’s prayers of lament which fit my own circumstances right now and I’m finding it very helpful as a reminder that we can and should cry out (in honesty) to God in our frustration/confusion/pain/depression/sadness/stress — all of it — and He hears our prayer.
