  1. It’s a lovely day here, too, Mumsee!

I need to go have some new adventures in grocery shopping😄

The big Men’s Gathering happened at church yesterday and it’s hard to wait for news about how it turned out. I think it was sold out of tickets for a $5 steak meal. The speaker was one I’d love to hear sonetime.

  2. A bunch of my friends and men from church went to Liberty U this weekend for Ignite, a large men’s conference. Numerous guest speakers including Tim Tebow. I was supposed to go too, but for obvious reasons, was unable to. 😦

They go every year so maybe next year. From what I gather it was a very uplifting weekend spent praising God and hearing how’s He’s working in the lives off His followers. Also classes on how to be the best men, husband’s, and fathers than can be. I’m sorry I missed it.

  3. AJ, that sounds great! So glad you are in a church where the men are engaged like that. Praying that you will go next year.

Here is a great video looking at the landscape features today of the land where David took down Goliath. Amazing how the Bible gets it right.

  4. It’s Monday! Cloudy but in the low 50’s here.

The weather guys are predicting 17 inches of snow by Thursday. Kick off is Wednesday after noon! I went to Walmart this morning to pick up a couple of king size pillows and the shoppers were emptying the shelves of “snowstorm” food!!

Aj I am sure the guys will fill you in about the event. And I do see so much consideration from your heart towards Cheryl. You mister are a good guy!! Continued prayer covering for your total healing and return to health!!

Early this morning I waited an hour on hold with the Social Security office. I received a letter stating they had been sending me the wrong amount. The new amount appeared to be about 400 dollars less a month! The sweet gal on the phone was frustrated because it was an adjustment of only my husband’s portion which increased and the letter was supposed to explain that..which it did not! I get a whole dollar a month more !!! Go me!!

  5. Well the hospital decided after my gains in pt that I didn’t need to go to an acute rehab. They gave me the option of a nursing home setting with a half hour of pt a day for a few days, or go home and have visiting nurses in. I choose B.

    So I am home!

Happy, thankful, and praising God. 😀

  6. Besides the wonderful ladies’ Bible study we have at our church, we also have a men’s Bible study that has been going great. My pastor and his wife have said that in all their years of ministry, they have never seen so many men involved in a Bible study, not only studying the Bible, but also growing together and fervently praying for one another.

On another note, I recently read that God is doing something wonderful among Gen Z throughout the land. Wouldn’t it be just like God to take this generation that is being brought up with the normalization of the LGBTQ+ worldview, among other things, and get a hold of their hearts and do something amazing? I am praying that it will be so! (And that it will work its way up through the other generations.)

  7. Janice – Earlier today, I was thinking about your situation with having trouble seeing the screen in church if you are not in your usual place. I know you seem hesitant to make a fuss, which I understand – I would be the same way – but maybe it would be good to casually let someone know about your predicament. I am sure that they would want you to be able to sing along with the songs, and read whatever else might be put on the screens.

  8. Agree with Kizzie @8:54 — and I doubt you (Janice) are the only one with some of those issues.

Story incoming late today (that I’ll do tomorrow) about a brown pelican found by a fishing boat, an adult female, with her pouch completely slit from side to side. 😦 This has happened before, it’s a form of cruelty that some frustrating fishers feel toward the wildlife, from sea lions to pelicans, that swipe at their catches.

Pelican was in surgery today at our bird rescue center, the procedure required more than 400 stitches — with another surgery to come — but they believe she will recover with about a month of care and treatment.

  9. Sunny and cool here.

So far this time change seems easier for me than it did last time. I’m waking up on time and still getting a good 7-8 hours sleep. And walking Abby after work but before it got dark was much nicer.

But there was a hitch yesterday after I realized the one and only clock I hadn’t changed in the house was in the office/work room. I kept thinking how slow Monday was going. It was kind of cool just to be able to push the clock forward a whole hour when I figured out what was wrong. Suddenly Monday was going really fast.

  11. Good news Aj!! There’s no place like home!😊

House is cleaned and I am going to take a drive to Elizabeth on this warmish sun shiny day. I have a feeling there will be no leaving the house for the next few days…⛄️

  12. It is Tuesday so laundry day for me. I am still hanging laundry in doors but it is all done.

Husband is off to highway district and helping some elderly folk with this and that so I tasked sixteen year old, who was doing schoolwork, to keep an ear out for grandpa in case he wanted to leave his chair, so I could run upstairs and get some elliptical and bike in. Seventeen was out cutting tinder and kindling and listening to the radio.

  13. My regular Bible study group at my former church did not meet today so I went to my church’s women’s Bible study. We had lunch afterwards. I really enjoyed being with this new group. I know several from the library team. I had enough in common to have some good conversations.

  14. It’s the culture — Looks like an interesting book coming out in April:

Democracy and Solidarity: On the Cultural Roots of America’s Political Crisis  – April 23, 2024

by  James Davison Hunter  (Author) (U of VA)

The long-developing cultural divisions beneath our present political crisis

No matter our party loyalties, we’d probably all agree that the American political system is in crisis. Hunter takes us deeper to understand how we got here, and where we might go next.

“If solidarity cannot be generated organically,” Hunter warns, “it will be imposed coercively.”

  15. One thing good about hospitals? Those who frequent them never take the comforts of home for granted again!

I sent a photo of the Birthday Tree that I took on this sunny blue sky day to you, AJ. We enjoyed London broil, cauliflower, and peach pie for 2nd little birthday celebration last night. We ended up watching part of Les Mis on PBS for a sweet 76th birthday activity (in the short time we have between when Art gets home and bedtime).

  16. Writing about donations needed to help with the care of injured, sick and orphaned waterbirds, I typed (or was it that trouble-making spell check?) “injured, sick and orphaned waterbeds.”

Caught it right away though, but it did make me laugh.

  17. Great that you can be home AJ.

70s today so I did some cleaning in the carport. We had a 20+ year old ping-pong table that has been out there getting rained on occasionally, so it had a ragged edge. No sense someone getting splinters while getting exercise. I took it apart and broke up the rotten particle board. Mrs L help me get the metal frame in the truck to haul to a recycle center. Now to see if the trash hauler can take the wood.

While out there I swept up all the leaves that pile up along the wall. I noticed our screen door so I put it up. That way we can get some fresh air into the kitchen.

  18. I am trying to get organized to work on the MK scholarship applications. We have 84 applications to go through and score. This is going to take some time as we also have to read references.
