Prayer Requests 12-4-23

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 129

A song of ascents.

“They have greatly oppressed me from my youth,”
    let Israel say;
“they have greatly oppressed me from my youth,
    but they have not gained the victory over me.
Plowmen have plowed my back
    and made their furrows long.
But the Lord is righteous;
    he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.”

May all who hate Zion
    be turned back in shame.
May they be like grass on the roof,
    which withers before it can grow;
a reaper cannot fill his hands with it,
    nor one who gathers fill his arms.
May those who pass by not say to them,
    “The blessing of the Lord be on you;
    we bless you in the name of the Lord.”

  1. My dear friend Cindy’s husband Mike died yesterday. It was not a surprise, as he has battled COPD for years, and it was getting much worse. But it is still a great heartache for Cindy, his wife of 20 years..

    Mike was her second husband (the first one had left her with three young children), and helped raise her family. He cherished Cindy and was a great encourager to her. Like my own Hubby, he had a corny sense of humor.

    Please pray for comfort for Cindy, and for his step-children and their families to be drawn to the Lord in the midst of this. (I am sure that the gospel will be preached at his service.) Also for his daughter who lives elsewhere with her own family. (I think she is a believer, but am not sure.)

    Depending on when the service will be, I am hoping to ask Nightingale to come with me. She had been one of Mike’s nurses when he had been in the rehab section of the nursing home a while back, and he thought highly of her. Please pray that she will come with me if she can, and that whatever is preached will prick her heart.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear that, Kizzie, praying for Cindy and all those who knew and loved him. He sounds like he was a great support and dear companion to her and the family at a time of need. Thanking God for sending him to her and the family.

    And continuing to pray also for Boy and Nightingale, hoping everything is calmer today so you all can regroup and breathe. Praying you all have a good and encouraging day (with no drama). -dj

  3. Oh, Kizzie, so sorry to hear of his passing. Prayers for Cindy and the family. Thankful she has you to help her. And prayers, always, for Nughtingale, Chickadee and Boy to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. One step, one revealing, at a time,in God’s perfect timing.

  4. Please pray for protection and safety for Nightingale. A patient’s son threatened her today. (Something like she’d better watch out when she goes out to her car after work.) The patient, Robin, loves Nightingale and is distraught over what has transpired.

    The son is verbally abusive to his mother, and has been banned from the building due to his behavior. Today, via a Zoom-type chat with his mother on her phone, as Nightingale was helping Robin with her lunch, the son was complaining about how Nightingale was doing things (she was doing them the way Robin prefers) and got very verbally abusive towards her. It escalated even as Nightingale tried to calm things down.

    She made a report to the social services department, but since there was another crisis going on today, it seems to have been pushed aside. She will bring it up again.

    (One of the higher level nurses was arrested for stealing drugs. 😦 Nightingale says it is so sad because this woman was a really good nurse, very good to the patients. But she has apparently had a hidden drug addiction. Please pray for that lady, too.)
