Prayer Requests 10-31-23

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 110

Of David. A psalm.

The Lord says to my lord:

“Sit at my right hand
    until I make your enemies
    a footstool for your feet.”

The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying,
“Rule in the midst of your enemies!”
Your troops will be willing
    on your day of battle.
   Arrayed in holy splendor,
your young men will come to you
like dew from the morning’s womb.

The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind:
“You are a priest forever,
    in the order of Melchizedek.”

The Lord is at your right hand;
he will crush kings on the day of his wrath.
He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead
and crushing the rulers of the whole earth.
He will drink from a brook along the way,
and so he will lift his head high.

  1. Pray for the family of a 29 yr. old hockey player who died in a terrible accident while skating overseas. His extended family just lost another young family member. Both went to the same school and have ties to our SIL. Many in the community are mourning.

  2. Praying. And for Mumsee’s household, Kizzie’s, and 6’s that God grant you the guidance, wisdom, provision, and favor needed in navigating these difficult situations. And for AJ, always

Please pray for us as you feel led: My cousin is in hospital for chemo treatments for acute leukemia. And Dad had another mini-stroke last week and was in a different hospital, (which I didn’t even have time to post about)— but most of the feeling in his left side is gradually coming back already. He’s home and feeling much better today but still not 100%. Cyrus is very attached to Dad and gets very stressed every time he has a stroke or gets ill. And also I need to maintain my strength and emotional equilibrium. I was so exhausted I thought I was literally going to fall over at work yesterday (probably too much overtime for my body right now).

I also want to publicly thank God for all he is already doing for us. Even in the struggle with each of our issues he has provided all we have needed to this point. EVERYTHING! He’s so good! And his timing is perfect, even when mine isn’t.

I don’t have a lot of time to post these days (and usually can’t ‘like’ anything) but I’m still reading at least the prayer thread and praying for you all. I love you and value your prayers more than I can say.

  3. Oh, praying Debra, that sounds like a very stressful situation all the way around. Take care of yourself.

The mention of a mini-stroke reminded me to update the situation with my cousin (who was thought to have had one several weeks ago). The doctors have determined that’s not what happened and that the explanation for what happened to her may have been a pinched nerve in her neck that then affected her spine and the one leg, but only for a brief moment. I believe more appointments are scheduled to try to pin down the explanation, but overall this was very good news — her mom had a tendency toward stokes so it’s always been on her radar.

Kathaleena, I read about that hockey accident, how horrible. 😦

  4. Praise: did I mention son in law slid off the roof the other day? I guess he learned that ice is slick. He sustained no injuries but did take out my clothesline.

  5. Thanks, Debra. Excellent reminder to praise God in ALL circumstances! I praise Him in the morning (sometimes) upon waking / right before reading the Word, but do I remember to do so throughout the day, and especially at challenging times? Ahem; not so much.

Praying for your cousin, your dad, Cyrus and you, too, Debra.

    And for your cousin, DJ.

Kathaleena, I heard about the hockey player, too. So tragic, and how heartbreaking that another young person in that extended family has died, too. 😦

Mumsee, how does someone slide off a roof, take out a clothesline, and not get injured?! OK, I know — God in His mercy. Wow. Reminds me of the time a family friend fell two stories and landed on his back in an ample supply of mud. He got up and walked away with only bruises. A paramedic told him he was lucky his heart didn’t stop when he hit the ground.

Thanks again for the prayers lately, everyone. Though I haven’t heard yet from any of the three adults in the two households I emailed, I am at complete peace today, enjoying a quiet day at home, cooking and cleaning my kitchen and decorating my living and dining room for fall now that winter wonderland arrived here today. 🙂

  6. It’s so heart-warming to read all the prayer requests and be with those who. trust God and believe that He hears and answers prayers. We had a long Bible study and nearly an hour of praying today with my church ladies group. So sweet to pray with other believers whether on the phone, in person, or online.

Lifting all these requests to the Lord and expectantly awaiting His best answers.
