  1. Good morning, all. Twenty four here and snow from yesterday. Supposed to be warming up.

Brother and sis in law are heading out in a few for home. Have to rescue their dog from the dog hotel.

  2. 50s when I got up, 60s right now (going on 11 a.m.). Fog burned off, some sunshine now. No snow. But maybe some coming soon to our mountains, once it all cools off permanently.

Yesterday was crazy-busy, 4 stories, a dog training appointment, then I collapsed.

This morning I had to pick up a DMV drivers’ handbook at the Auto Club and have to get really serious now about getting an appointment made for the license renewal. I only have a week left. 😦 May have to opt for an extension if they’re booked. If not, I’ll probably have to take a day off work to do all of that.

Treated myself by making an omelette for breakfast this morning, so good. I have deli tuna salad and salad makings for lunch.

  3. It is currently 78 degrees here (the third day in the 70s), but the skies have turned from sunny this morning to overcast and grey this afternoon. The high expected for tomorrow is 50, which is more seasonable for us. Rain expected tomorrow afternoon. (Although the clouds look dark enough now to bring rain.)

  4. Nightingale and Boy had an appointment with a psychiatrist yesterday afternoon. Boy has been diagnosed with ADHD and autism. Not really a surprise to us. He had already been diagnosed close to autistic, but this psychiatrist notes that he is high-functioning, which helps him to hold it together in school. He also said that he could practically make his diagnosis just in observing how Boy was in the meeting. Nightingale is relieved to finally have a professional diagnosis for him.

Hubby was in his 50s when he realized that he had ADHD, and it made so much sense. We learned that the H – hyperactivity – does not always present in the stereotypical way, but often presents as obsessions or near-obsessions. Buying things and spending too much money is one of those things, and that’s what he did. He was always buying a new jacket or a new hat or pens. Or other, more expensive, things. 😦

  5. 9-1 Diamondbacks. Series now stands at 1-1. On to Game 3 Monday.

So I’m going through the DMV Drivers’ Handbook and came across the section on how to deal with the (confounding) “round-about” traffic circle.

~ Enter slowly. … Yield to all traffic in the roundabout … Travel in a counter-clockwise direction. Do not stop or pass. Change lanes and signal to exit. If you miss your exit, continue around until you return to your exit. ~

Ah, the memory — my dad was driving, my mom in the passenger seat, I was in the back, when we entered the roundabout. ‘Round and ’round we went, once, twice, three times, maybe more, my dad continuing to miss our exit, becoming frustrated and then furious. Who designed this???

    There was ‘language.’

    My mom was laughing hysterically.

I thought it was fun, kind of like an amusement ride.

  6. We enjoy those Not-So-Merry-Go -Rounds as an occasion for doing wheelies, lol They are gaining in popularity here.

Art had the Series on for that first pitch by George W and the commentary was sobering as the announcers spoke of when he threw out thr first pitch after 9/11 and how unified our nation was at that point.

We have not been watching otherwise because Art has his “weekend favorite programs.”

I did invest in the HBO series Station Eleven which I regret. We watched the first dvd (four programs) one night, maybe Wed. The storyline is changed from the book. It bounces all around like a Picasso painting, and the F word is used way too frequently. But Art really liked the music they chose to insert. I actually had a nightmare after watching it. The book is good though

  7. I didn’t read the book but I think I tried watching that too, Janice, and bailed out rather quickly, probably during the first episode from what I recall.

I ordered a larger cargo box for the SUV that has a lid, it was one one of those “lightning deals” on Amazon and I’d been eyeing it for a while.

So I was a little stumped when it wasn’t on the front porch this morning (after they said it had been delivered overnight). When I looked at the picture they email you, there it was, sitting on my neighbor’s front porch.

So I quietly (it was around 7:30 a.m.) tip-toed up all their steps and snatched it off their porch. They have porch cameras so I need to let them know what happened (they get up late typically these days). Label had the correct address, guy just made a (rare for Amazon) mistake.

  8. We had an ordination of the pastor’s son into ministry during the service today. Glad he is taking that step as he clearly has a special gifting from God to be a preacher and teacher like his father.

Our son had a conference at his university this weekend. He presented a paper. The awesome thing was that his undergrad advisor prof from Covenant and another prof from Covenant days were there. And, an apartmenthg mate from Baylor presented his paper, too. Son had a reunion with people from both of his previous schools. God works out those divine appointments.

  9. I was looking on Amazon for a 2024 wall calendar.

I guess there’s a market for everything. There’s one titled “Outhouses”:

~ LOVELY LAVATORIES – This whimsical 2024 wall calendar captures the distinctive charm of outhouses around the world. Surrounded by an abundance of trees or out in the middle of nowhere, you’ll explore twelve outhouses located in interesting settings across North America and abroad. It’s the perfect calendar for anyone who appreciates travel, photography or innocent bathroom humor. ~
