  1. Good morning. Thankful this morning for the few remaining beautiful leaves. My alyssum by the back deck is also beautiful. Cold is here. We are predicted to have less snow than normal after having a record year last winter. Hopefully we will have enough to insulate the ground, give some business and fun for winter sports and cover the grey. What a creator we have to show this cycle of life in creation!

  2. Kathaleena @9:47, at first I read that as the “asylum” by your back deck being so beautiful.

I ‘clearly’ still need that other eye surgery done (it’s now a week and a half away).

I have several short, perfunctory stories to churn out today. Dog trainer returns at 4 p.m. for a follow-up session on Abby and the Car.

It’s chilly here this morning. Time for a shower and coffee. -dj

  3. Concerns in NY today, I’ve read — there’s a parade in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood in support of the Palestinian cause and Jewish residents are being advised to stay indoors; it’s hard to get your mind around some of the things we see taking place right now.

I had lots of trash to haul out last night, all 3 bins — I’d let the recyclables gather for 2 weeks and also this was the week for the gardeners so that bin was overflowing.

Several short/easy/perfunctory stories to write up (about upcoming hearings and meetings for port projects) and will need to hit the ATM for some cash for the trainer. I’m no where near any closer to feeling ready to take the DMV test and I have to do it in the next week or so, somehow, some way. …

  4. Somebody’s PR writing looks a little over-the-top to me. Our township switched trash pickup companies, and we received this mailer yesterday from the new company:

Priority Waste is thrilled to announce the seamless transition of services from Republic Services to our capable hands. This marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in your service experience.

But I don’t want a new and exciting chapter in my “service experience”. Just keep picking up my trash, please.

If they’re doing a good job I really shouldn’t notice anything other than that the trucks are a different color and have a different name, right?

  5. Well, the day is sliding along. Just explaining to dad “whatever happened to this woman in the picture with me?”

And so it goes. Time to begin wrapping. I just brought the paper down from upstairs and have been looking for the tape.

May be time for a puzzle or two.

  6. Oh I read “asylum” too Dj!! I thought “hmmm I call my little spot in the house my stitchin’ room but asylum would work as well I suppose!” After all I do escape there to get away from everything and it is good for my mental health!

The other day my friend gifted to me a children’s book her friend had written. The dedication was to her husband but the way it was written I totally thought it said she was dedicating it to her FIRST husband!! I wasn’t the only person who reads too fast at times who read it that way!! “I dedicate this book first to my husband Randy”….read slowly!!!

The skies were cloudy and it was..and is…freezing around here. But the clouds are gone and we are left with the bluest of blue Colorado sky!! Snow coming in tomorrow and Sunday…with high of 15 on Sunday!! Winter is a comin’!!

  7. No more boring trash day! Maybe they will play the ice cream truck song! Sometimes the trucks go really fast down our hill which is exciting. Maybe they plan to do garbage truck races or contests for most fragrant truck. Garbage truck parades?

  8. But wait, there’s more!

At Priority Waste, we take pride in our innovative approach and our unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction. We eagerly anticipate surpassing your expectations and forging a robust partnership together.

Innovative approach? Surpass my expectations? Maybe we will see some of AJ’s and Janice’s ideas come to life!

  9. In our town we contract with a trash hauler on our own. There are 3 or 4 choices. The problem is each company comes down our street twice a week, so we almost have a parade of trucks in the morning.

Bur that PR letter is over the top!

  10. A robust relationship? New and exciting? Asylum by my back deck steps? Hmm.

This is lutefisk season. One of my daughters shared this from a billboard on a local church: LUTEFISK: The piece of cod that surpasses understanding.

I have never eaten it but doubt I could get past the smell. However, I have a friend who has cooked it and loves it. I know many who love it. It was never a tradition in my family, not being Scandanavian. Anyone a fan?
